My LLMD suggested upping my Rifampin from 300mg x 2 daily to 600mg x 2 daily (added to my 1000mg Cipro daily).

Anyone out there taking 2x the normal amount of Rifampin? Has it helped?

My only symptoms remaining are occasional twitching, irregular heartbeat related to reflux and stomach issues (gas, occasional diarrhea, reflux), and very light night sweats that come and go.

Appreciate any feedback, thanks!

hi myco-i am on 600 mgs of rifampin a day, and my llmd said thats the maximum without risking liver problems, some of which may be irreversible.

if your dr thinks its ok, i guess you could try. i personally find 600mgs a day to be almost unbearable, but i know several people who do fine on it. i suppose its all individual.

have you been tolerating the 600 mgs ok?

Yes, tolerating the 600mgs ok, but honestly worried about doubling the dose.

I am ramping up to 600mg of Rifampin, paired with Minocycline.

I wouldn't want to even think about doubling Rifampin. I seem to be doing ok with it...but ramping up has not been easy.

I can not imagine taking 1000mg of biaxin plus 600mg mino plus 1200mg rifampin. Who can survive such a dose?
How much do you weight, manybites?

You can search rifampin in history and seems recently there were many people working the
higher doses.

Me either!! [Eek!] 300mg Rifampin by itself nearly killed me!
