No mention of Lyme Disease, of course, but for those of you on face book, I'm not, it's another good opportunity to make your voices heard.

Those articles made steam come out of my ears!!! ANd the comments are mostly horrible----"delusion of parisitosis, needs anti-psychotics," "from drug addiction," "not a real condition, except psychoses," etc., etc.!!

I know. I hope you add your knowledge to the comments. We can all help bring awareness to those that are in the dark. I posted on the New York Times comment section and I did see a few intelligent comments bringing attention to Lyme Disease and someone who said they finally found an answer when they got a Lyme Disease dx.

A few posted on Huff Post too mentioning Lyme Disease but by and large the comments were the usual clueless suggestions on both sites that mainstream doctors tell everyone when they don't have a clue what's wrong.

I hope some how Joni Mitchell is made aware that she needs to look in the direction of Lyme Disease.

Does she have an agent? That is sometimes a way to contact celebrities. Or maybe she has her own website?

I just read the NYT article. Shocking. Absolutely shocking in so many very sad ways that something like that could be published by anyone calling themselves a journalistic.

If someone of Ms. Mitchell's stature is described like that - it just makes me crumble all the more.

Some of the [very few newest] comments are just as bad, though, glad to see some that are trying to share the facts with others. But for every good link, article mention, someone comes back to slap it down.

Fortunately for Ms. Mitchell, she likely has the resources to find good medical care and likely even what the NTY thinks of her will not shake her confidence and self-assuredness.

But that is just not the case with so many others who deal with this very real medical condition that has such distain from doctors & media.

Seems some kind of article like this also hits the press just before a holiday where families gather. This will not be good for many who gather around the family table this weekend (unless families of those ill finally decide to learn the facts).

Oh. Oh. Oh.

So, then on to the Huffington Post article. Feel better about that. I do expect better from them and while I can't read much more now, glad to see at first glance they appear to have done some homework with open eyes.

If she knows that she has Morgellon's, surely she must know she has Lyme, right??!! That didn't even occur to me before, as it seems so obvious. I didn't know anyone who Morgellon's it didn't know they had Bb. Yeesh, that would be ridiculous.

Dr. S in CA specializes in working with Morgellon's.

I understand Morgellons/Lyme is systemic but I wonder if going after bothersome lesions with the Tesla Ultra Violet wand would fry those local pathogens?

Just thinking out loud.

I know there is one guy on the net who is having Pulse Parties just over the border in Mexico. Everyone holds hands and a electro/mag pulse goes through them from some gadget he has, and then they all jump in a swimming pool immediately to cool themselves off. He says it gets rid of Morgellons. Sounds dangerous but it makes sense in a scary kind of way too.

That is horrible, NYTIMES makes me sick in their coverage of disease.

Just because delusional parasitosis exists doesn't mean it's the cause of Joni Mitchell's problem. Love how everyone thinks they can correctly diagnose lyme and confections from their couch as psychiatric disorders.

The NYT has a long-time blatant vendetta against anything even remotely to do with truth about lyme. And, it seems, they have a cadre of IDSA connected "readers" who are prolific with lyme-negative comments as well.

However, I'm doubly appalled that they would so publically criticize someone of Joni Mitchell's stature in this nature. It's really a very unprofessional attack of a very personal nature on someone at a very tough time in her life.

It's beyond unprofessional, no matter what their stance is on the illness.

Their treatment of this well-respected professional and musical icon will have very chilling effect on the "ordinary" people who have morgellons / lyme / chronic stealth infection.

It's not just the Times, tho they certainly are guilty. Most of the news outlets that have reported this story have pretty much said the same thing.

Go on the sites and voice your opinions by placing your comments. There are many of them that have reported this story.

That's where we can make the biggest difference, not here on this post.

I've always been amazed how doctor's say that this is a delusion and yet the patients often have sores all over their body. Did they also mentally make the sores come into existence?! It's completely insane.

The doctors who hold to the delusional view believe that the patient creates the sores by continually picking at the spots where they believe they have parasites.

It amazes me how stupid mainstream docs are. Not believing a patient is simply compensation for the doc's lack of knowledge on the subject. Their god like egos have taken over their brains.

Patients know it's not in their heads and eventually lose faith in the medical system realizing exactly how flawed it is. This will inevitably force patients (at least the ones with money) to find the right docs who believe them, and the stupid docs will be left behind. Bye, bye morons.

Another link. Actually this one is somewhat interesting in that it gives the history of Morgellons. However, even though the LLMD psych doc - Dr B - is quoted nowhere in the article is lyme mentioned. Have not read any of the 168 comments yet.

They've put her through the ringer.

Do we know for sure that it's Lyme? I thought it was due to an agrobacterium that crossed species, in terms of acting like a plant in us. Yuk.

How is this not invasion of her privacy, too? What right do they have even writing ANY discussion about her health if it's not an one-on-one interview and HER voice & permission.

They have no right to all of the sudden just pluck from the crowd, speculate and criticize. That's not balanced research & reporting at all but the invasion of personal privacy is just audacious, far beyond a lack of respect.

Robin and others, see my post with articles about Morgellon's being associated with lyme and similar to a disease showing up in cow's - also associated with a spirocetal infection.

Only 216 comments on the NYT site. Has anyone placed a comment on any of the sites?

I've asked this question before with no response. I see discussion here but if we don't speak out beyond the confines of this site we're not helping our own cause.

Because people of her stature are a threat. Celebrities can bring exposure to lyme (Yolanda, avril) and Morgellons, etc.

I've read countless articles about how sorry someone feels for avril or Yolanda, but they have been unfortunately hoodwinked into thinking they have lyme. So please don't follow their example and get real help from a medical professional,

The worst was someone has issue with how avril used diet change, gradual exercise and antibiotic therapy. They said lyme only needs 28 days doxy, easy to treat... All those other things don't help lyme and she is unfortunately missing what might be her real diagnosis!

This kind of absurd thinking will go down in history as the dark ages in medicine. Reminds me of how they used to treat people with mental disorders by locking them away. [Mad]

Please respond to this article. The amount of gleeful "crazy shaming" and rejection of this as a real illness in the comments section makes me want to vomit.
