I was on acidophillus and milk thistle in the last couple of months. I've been on abx for almost a year now (oral for half a year, a short break, then IV abx for three months), and now my body can't seem to take it anymore.

I got a list of nutritional supplement recommendations from Dr J in SC.

- Alpha Lipoic Acid: 600mg once a day

- B-Complex: 1 capsule or tablet a day

- Coenzyme Q10: 150mg once a day

- N-Acetyl L-Cysteine (NAC): 500mg, twice a day

- Probiotics (Recommended Brand: Pro 5 by Klaire Labs, or Jarro-dophius EPS by Jarrow Formulas):
1 to 10 billion CFU daily, 3 or 4 divided doses, take 1 hour before or 2 hours after oral antibiotics.

Can you guys who are currently taking (some of) them advise where you purchase them? Online? Local?

I'll really appreciate your help!

you will waste the probiotics if you take them 1 hrs before antibiotics.
I take them 3 hrs after.

Mostly -a large amount before I sleep -so they are not distroyed quicly from the next dossage of antibiotics the next round that is a few hrs.

Alv, thanks! Where did you get your probiotics? Local pharmacy or health food store? Or online?

Are you on other supplements too? [group hug]

Justag~ I use www.vitacost.com and I really save a lot of money. I find they have more for the money than my local health food store.

Sometimes they have the greatest promotions too!

breezywings, thanks! I've seen vitacost mentioned a few times, and will give it a try. I used to buy from iherb.com for a few things. I'll make some purchase tonight [group hug]

Wow,

Dr. J recommends all of those supplements as well? I'm taking CoQ-10, Cumanda, Garlic, Omega 3-Fish Oil, etc., but not those others. I want to get well, but I'm spending a fortune just to get in the door to see him!

I know I'm not alone, but this is tapping me out. I just hope I remain well enough to remain employed, to be able to afford to get well.

Thanks for posting.

Is that all the supplements Dr. J recommends? Can you post further updates of your protocol?

Some of us can't afford the expense of seeing a doctor like this.

I understand why he may charge so much - it's just hard for those of us who don't have insurance or who haven't been able to work much over the years.

I'd be interested in what his protocol is - even if it is specifically for you, justag.

We can all learn from it.
