I do have lyme but I didnt start treating it yet (I will soon).

For the last 2-3 years whenever I need to accomplish a task that requires good cognitive skills, I first drink about a gallon of water shortly before. The results are immediate: the fatigue/tiredness goes away and my cognitive function increases drastically. The results last for 30min-3h.

Or on days where I need some cognition throughout the day, I start with 2 liters upon getting up and then half a liter every 30min.

I think others with neuroborreliosis should try this trick. I've tried just about everything (amphetamines like dexedrine, hydrocortisone (cortisol), fludrocortisone (florinef), piracetam, ginko biloba, pretty much every supplements known to cross the blood-brain barrier, detox, liver support, activated charcoal, etc.) I also got cholestyramine (bile-acid sequestrant) at home but didnt try it yet. But the only thing that has consistently produced significant results is pounding water.

If you try that, make sure you get enough electrolytes, especially salt, to avoid water poisoning.

I should add that I'm practically never thirsty and I dont like the taste of water at all. It's just that I have observed that I can clear up my fatigue and my mental fog within minutes by using this trick.

As to why it works, I have no idea. I have come up with 5-6 different hypothesis so far, for example about hypo-perfusion, neurotoxin clearance, etc.

Just be careful about water intoxication which can be fatal.

"is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside of safe limits by over-consumption of water."

What I do is I put a teaspoon of salt in one gallon of water. I also take potassium citrate and potassium chloride. Sometimes I take commercial electrolytes (the products for endurance athletes).

anybody dare to say what his/her best bet is for why this trick works?
