MisTick,

Thank you so much for your hard work. This was an excellent summary.

One thing I noticed though. When Dr. Donta was talking about the effects of rocephin, I think he was talking in weeks, not months -- I think he said patients back slid at ten to twelve *weeks*.

Thanks, OptiMisTick!

As to Wormser, as you said:

>>He insisted the Guidelines can not account for individual variation, were not intended to supplant physician judgment, and adherence was intended to be voluntary.<<

The intent of the IDSA is that they NOT be voluntary, as evidenced by the fact that the head of the IDSA writes letters every time legislation is proposed at the state or national level to allow for physician/patient choice in Lyme treatment.

http://www.idsociety.org/WorkArea/showcontent.aspx?id=14754&LangType=103

http://www.idsociety.org/WorkArea/showcontent.aspx?id=13496

http://www.idsociety.org/WorkArea/showcontent.aspx?id=10818

And many more are listed on their website:
http://www.idsociety.org/lymedisease.htm#press
Scroll down to "Advocacy."

They also warn against the use of long-term antibiotics on their website:
http://www.idsociety.org/lymediseasefacts.htm

I don't see any statements there that say "individual variation" or "physician judgment," and in fact the guidelines themselves recommend against certain classes of antibiotics, combination therapies, Bartonella diagnoses, and alternative treatment modalities that have been effective for some patients (guidelines, p. 1094).

Lorraine Johnson pointed out this discrepancy in the follow-up questions at the end of the hearings.

omt, aren't you all glad she's on OUR side with her strength, determination, and helping others.

EDITED: i got omt mixed up with another dear friend of mine whose daughter has attempted suicide 20 plus times. i'm so sorry for my mistake of remembering with your family OMT.
bettyg hugs/kisses

it goes to show no matter how painful our lyme journey, when we are able to do something like what OMT did on the above; we are DRIVEN to get things done that no one would ever believe we are capable of.

omt, i love you my dear friend : [group hug] [group hug] [kiss]
