If your symptoms have calmed why do you need to herx?
Bactrim is a combination of 2 abx, and is rather effective generally for bartonella, some babesia.
Bactrim DS is more powerful than plain old bactrim.

i dont feel like bactrim is very powerful. my LLMD says it isnt the ideal abx for lyme.
also somewhat intersting i was taking 850 ds 1x a day for acne when i got sick with lyme. couldnt even prevent me from getting a significant lyme infection

Bactrim is fine for Lyme. My llmd (past president of ILADS) does rx it.
Responses to abxs are individual. You don't need to herx, improvement is great.

Thanks everyone. I believe that I may not be
herxing due to the fact that flucanazole
inhibits borrelia. I always analogize LD when
explaining/informing it to people. Here it
started as a boxing match with Borrelia,
Bartonella and Babesia-3 against 1. They beat
the crap out of me for so long-almost put me in
a wheelchair. I found, through a superhero (Dr.
S) a weapon to paralyze them. Many of my friends
will come one by one to save my life and finish

I am mostly wondering if I will ever get "healed." In 2006
all CNS lesions in my cervical spine (fully
loaded) vanished after 30 days on flucanazole
for unrelated onychomycosys.
I can take up to 6 months off of work after July
1rst. That is when I will do daily rocephen
injections.
Your thoughts mean a lot to me...

I LOVE bactrim DS. Got to remission on that and rifampin (after 2 years of other stuff). I was 100% well for the two months I took it and three weeks after stopping.
I did get C diff after stopping and the relapsed with some co-infection or something after three weeks off. We don't know what it is I'm fighting now. But, boy that nearly 3 months was like heaven and it gave me the boost I needed to keep fighting.
This is a great drug and I highly recommend it.

From what I have heard, Bactrim DS might not be hitting Lyme specifically. LLMD's have told me it's not a good LYME drug, and they are probably right---technically.
But it seems to be a great drug for Lyme patients, since many of us are knowingly or unknowingly carrying around at least one coinfection.
Some use it for babesia, I have found it effective for what I am pretty sure is my Bartonella.
I wouldn't worry about not herxing. Some people don't or only do sometimes. If it's helping, it's helping....don't mess with success!
The dose you are taking seems like the standard Lyme patient dose. The Bactrim DS tablet is marked as 800-160 mg (since there are two ingredients). I'm guessing you're taking 1 of those twice a day. That's normal.
I wish more LLMD's knew how effective this drug is for some of us. There are some docs that hardly ever use it....it's a shame.

protocol. I was inambulatory 2.5 months ago. I
am using neuro-acupuncture, neuro-aquatic
physical therapy and the the aforementioned
protocol. I was out of my bed and walking (afer
2.5 months) within 2.5 days after taking
diflucan.
I am pretty sure that I have bartonella (red
shoulder streaks) and other Bart sx.

I'm amazed at how good Bactrim has been for me. IT wasn't obvious at first, and I stopped taking it when I went into remission from babesia, and went to other Lyme-only drugs. The babesia came back and I got back on bactrim and got it into remission again. I think it's a huge part of my treatment picture.
I'm now trying it with roxithromycin, as there's some research that says that that combo (with high doses of bactrim, which not everyone can handle) is really good for neuro-Lyme. Google the 'gasser protocol' for LYme.
IT's possible to get roxithromycin online even though it's not sold in the US.

Lyme & co's treatment are hit and miss. If someone is lucky enough to find the drug that works for their strain and you start feeling better, that is awesome. Many people report the sulfa's to be amazing.
My LLMd said IF this particular abx is going to work, it works very fast, within weeks.
