I got my Igenex results back and would appreciate any thoughts on them.

Here they are:

1. B. Burgdorferi, IFA, G/M/A: <40 [negative]

2. Lyme, IgM WB [negative but would be positive if the IND were a '+']:
18kDa -
23-25kDa -
28kDa -
30kDa -
31kDa -
34kDa -
39kDa IND
41kDa +
45kDa -
58kDa -
66kDa -
83-93kDa -

3. Lyme, IgG WB [positive Igenex, neg CDC]:
18kDa -
23-25kDa -
28kDa -
30kDa -
31kDa ++
34kDa +
39kDa +
41kDa ++
45kDa -
58kDa +++
66kDa -
83-93kDa -

4. B. duncani, IFA:
IgM <20 [negative]
IgG 80 [indeterminate]

Based on your own experience, how would an LLMD interpret these results? In particular, what about the IgG WB results?

FWIW, I would also point out that for some reason my general IgM level [40, I believe] is below the normal range [I'm talking about the overall level of IgM measured in my blood, not the particular Lyme IgM test mentioned above]; so it seems that I have relatively little IgM period.

This might explain why I'm borderline on the Lyme IgM antibody. Also, if I am infected, it likely happened at least a year ago.

Thanks.

He would begin treatment ASAP!!!

Band 39 is the most Lyme specific band aside from 83-93. If you have a positive on EITHER test, it is considered positive. Even an "IND" is considered a weak positive by LLMD's.

So if that IND had been a + .. you would have had a fully positive test result.

Hi Peets,

I agree!

Your IGG is lit up like a Christmas tree!

Ignore the CDC mumbo jumbo. If you were a beagle, it might hold true.

From what I understand by your post, your IGM serum protein (immune function) is low.

Mine is also.
From what I've read, IGM immunoglobbin is the first attacker sent out by out immune system. When it is done the first wave of attack-it signals other immunoglobbins and fighter cells to start attacking.

Lyme and co supress immune function. So your IGM army is low on soldiers.

I have a tendency to ignore IGM and IGG results for lyme and co because once one has lyme, all immune "rules" go out the window.

And obviously I'm no doctor, but babesia and lyme don't go away by themselves. So even if they're IGG you still have an active infection and your immune system is recognizing them as bad 'uns.

When is your next appt with an LLMD?

I think the IgM shows up stronger in the beginning and the IgG later. Your IgG is extremely strong - no question - get thee to a good LLMD!

Thanks, everyone, for your feedback. I will make an appointment with an LLMD ASAP.

Yes, my comment regarding IgM was that my serum level is low and may have been suppressed by Lyme.

From the link I posted above:

"With most infections, your immune system first forms IgM antibodies, then in about 2 to 4 weeks, you see IgG antibodies. In some infections, IgG antibodies may be detectable for years.

Because Borrelia burgdorferi is a chronic persistent infection that may last for decades, you would think patients with chronic symptoms would have positive IgG Western blots.

But actually, more IgM blots are positive in chronic borreliosis than IgG. Every time Borrelia burgdorferi reproduces itself, it may stimulate the immune system to form new IgM antibodies.

Some patients have both IgG and IgM blots positive. But if either the IgG or IgM blot is positive, overall it is a positive result."
