Sorry if I've spelled it wrong. So many here write that glutathione IVs give them great relief.
My LLMD gave me one recently and I had a horrible reaction. It was four days before I was back to my level of "normal".
Has anyone else here had a bad reaction to it? Any idea what is going on chemically in my body that something that would bring great relief to so many would bring such misery to me?

Hi motownlyme. What kind of reaction did you have? Did it occur right away or later?
Are you allergic to sulfa? Some people who are alleric may have a reaction to Glutathione.

If you have genetic blocked methylation pathways then getting glut is not a good idea until those have been tested and opened. You must get the detoxigenome test by Genova to tell you this. Your LLMD must be up on this as some of us cannot detox killed pathogens or certain meds because these pathways are blocked. This can be dangerous to those of us that have this.

I always felt really awful the day of and the day after a glutathione IV. The LLLND I talked to said that it was normal. But four days...that's definitely something you should ask your LLMD about.

Both my 20-somethings have had them through out the summer and both of them have reacted just as you described. Their dr told them it causes a major detox and herx reaction and that is exactly what happened. Sometimes it would last 4 days, sometimes only 1 day- it really varied. But, he said it was normal and would pass, and it always did. After the bad reaction they would feel better.
They never knew how long the reaction would be or how long it lasted, which kind of drove them crazy and is understandable. However, in the long run, the IV's were very beneficial. Evidently, glutathione is an important thing to have and most chronically ill people are extremely deficient.
You will feel better- hope this helped. :-)

Thanks for the responses. In answer to your question about my reaction. I got terrible abdominal pain and bloating. My stomach really stuck out and was hard like I was pregnant.
The pain was so bad for the first day I could't walk upright. I just walked bent over. Sorry to be graphic but I ended up with BMs like play dough (something I've never experienced before).
It gradually improved after about 4 days. My LLMD says about 10% of patients experience a bad reaction to gluth. He gave me an explanation taht neither my husband or I understood.
I think I have a problem detoxing and everything my LLMD suggests (sauna, hot epsom salt baths, etc) all cause me to feel much worse.
I asked about activated charcoal but my LLMD discouraged it. We can't find a place in my med schedule to fit it in that in wouldn't absorb meds or supplements. I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks
