Hello <<<<< Lyme Family Herb Folk >>>>>,

Artemisinin, and Wormwood, are very difficult to get here in SE Idaho.

Does anyone know if Tarragon ,which can have some pain easing-numbing properties and tastes interesting too, or other Artemisia spice types can be used in place of Artemisinin?

Are they the same family of plants??

I am trying to find, inexpensive and safe supplementation.

If anyone knows about these various spices/herbs I'd appreciate the input!!!

Thank you for any input /info'

Thanx from Silverwolfi

I think from my discussions with my Chinese herbalist that artimisia annua is pretty unique and cannot be easily substituted with anything. That said I have'nt tried either herb to treat lyme...yet. Waiting to use artimisia annua when my gut is better. If you go to myherbs.com or even yahoo buhner herbs site,http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lyme_Aid_Buhner/
I think you will find your answers there. As well as recommended sites for purchasing the herbs so they can be shipped to you. Buhner's book on healing Lyme and his website offers information about the herbs that surpasses what I can tell you. But he says that artimisinin is known as sweet annie, Sweet wormwood and is in the asteracea family is grown in China and is found in the US, can be grown from seed here. He does not ever mention tarragon in his book at all. Hope that helps some.
I don't believe that cilantro is at all related to Artimisin. One is a chelator and one is a killer herb. Others know herbs much better than I . Best of luck.

Interesting! I didn't know tarragon was related to wormwood, artemisia...

I think you really need the artemisia annua for Lyme - or mainly babesia. It's an anti-malarial which is why some feel it's good for babesia. They are both blood parasites.

You can order it on-line from a bunch of places.

<<<<< Igor's mom and sparkle7 >>>>>,

Hi there, thanks for the info', links and input!!!

It gives me a place to start finding the answers on this!

For a short time,in 2006, thru a medical practitioner I was able to obtain artemisinin [ I have Lyme,Bart', and probably Babesia].

It seemed to help, but between lack of finances and the rash I got [ which I suspicion was a herx ]I haven't had anymore.

For a little while one could get *wormwood here, and I think the anti-parasite properties were actually helping.

This summer I went to get some *more, and was told most places are no longer allowed to carry *it [I was quite surprised].

I came upon the Tarragon info' from an herb book we got some years back,so I was hoping it might have similar properties...

My computer skills are limited,so I haven't tried to order online as to supplements, books and so on.

If we can get some more income in [working on getting SSI now, TxC is helping w/ all the forms],perhaps I can try ordering online at some point.

Idaho is a bit odd,it seems as to getting financial help, we fall thru the cracks around here. We'll see what happens...

Thanks for the info'! [Smile]

Jus' Silverwolfi
