well, i was a little scared to start this after reading on here about yeast and severe nausea etc...but so far so good.

i'm on day 4 i think. i don't really feel anything. i am being REALLY careful with probiotics, antifungals and diet.

i might want a little more sleep than normal...but not bad fatigue.

i also got back on ginko, fish oil and coq10 that had run out and i am able to tolerate a lot more exercize. could barely walk the dog 20 min a week ago and now i am on elliptcal 20 min and then go for a 30 min walk and even have time to chop ice(still trying to find the grass up here)

sooooo, good news for a change.

except-i hope its doing something.

but years ago with artemesia i just got better-sweats and eye pain would just go away with no herx. so i hope it will work.

my recent sweats have been really gross-mostly on head and face and leaving my hair all greasy.

i really want them to stop.

Well good for you lpkayak!

I sure do hope that the trend continues. I have to admit that I am happy for you but jealous too cause I wanna do the elliptical and walk the dogs [Big Grin]

Sounds like you are doing all of the right things. Thanks for sharing your good news!

I am supposed to start treatment for Babesia Duncani but just got tinnitus from Zithromax before even getting to the malaria drugs.

I have heard that Clind/Quinine can cause hearing issues. Were you told to do anything special to help prevent this? Is that why you are on gingko?

I am very inspired by your improvement - I would love to be able to exercise more!

Hubby just got better on the quinine/clindamycin protocol. Never really herxed either. In my opinion you need to stay on this protocol for a minimum of 4 months.

Hubby also started exercising again the first time he did this protocol. But unfortunately he started losing ground after the first 2 months. We stuck it out for 4 months the first time. It might be a good idea to consider adding in artemesinin or something else if you start backsliding while still on this protocol.

It did not get rid of hubby's babesia or the mystery bug, but it definitely made things more manageable. Just be sure you stay alert to your symptoms. We didn't really know at the time that hubby's seizure-like episodes were probably from babs or the mystery bug. So we never treated his babesia aggressively enough for years.

I do think the Alinia finally got rid of the babesia, but the mystery bug is still an issue for hubby.

Keep us updated on your progress. It is always good to read good news.

I keep wondering why this Babesia protocol is 10 days when others here are fighting Babs for 5+ months and Dr. B says the ssme? Am I missing something?

seek: in the past i did artemesia on my own for two months twice-probably 5 yrs apart

it really helped my symptoms without any herx...i just got better...like "normal" meds

but 2 llmds think my current sweats are babs...even tho i had it under control before

my firsst tx was 3 weeks mepron and zith-it didn't work but i couldn't take itany longer...my hypoglycemia made my sugar go to 40 for 3 weeks...i didn't realize i could have died-i just knew i could barely get up for bathroom and to take meds

so i am trying this protocol now

my sweats are disgusting...motsly head and face and leave my hair yucky greasy...even a few hours after i wash it-i never had that before

so docs think its babs an i am doing what i am told

all llmds have there own little differences in protocols

if ONE thing worked we wouldn't be here. we'd all get better.

its a new disease-it is extrememly complicated.

try to make a chart of all the co infections-all the strains...and everyones genes and historys and allergies...it's crazy!!!

and ALL these things are beginning to show up in the newest research as being really relevant...

i think it is best to get to an llmd with the most experience you can (20 yrs is great) and let him do his thing for a few years

then if you aren't getting as better as you think you should-try another really experienced llmd

some do speicaliz in ms or autism or neuro stuff...so if your sx are like that you can choose them...but i've been at this a long time and i really don't think there is anything more impt than experience-years of it.

remember-lots of ppl can't get to a good llmd. you are lucky that you can. many can't afford abx or meds or herbs.

and also remember-anxiety, rage, ocd , depression---all this stuff is symptoms!!!

it's good to think and question-curiousity is a sign of intelligence. but there is not going to be a quick fix here. you've got a good doc. i'd decide to trust him for awhile. not question everything. trust him-let him do his job and maybe that will reduce some stress on your part. stress is not good for healing.

he has made a lot of ppl on this board much better. he will tell you if he thinks he can't help you too. he is very honest.

My husband just started IV clindamycin and qualaquine last week. So far he's tolerating it fairly well. I believe he'll be on this combination for a while and we'll be adding in Primaquine at some point.
