So looks like I may have a case of the shingles. Any advice? And does this mean anything for a Lyme-ie?

Thanks.

I had it too, years ago, at the beginning of my disease.

shingles left (untreated) after weeks, lyme stayed.

I had it before I knew I had lyme. You need to get the antiviral treatment ASAP. If you wait too long you may end up with chronic nerve pain from it.

I am sorry you have shingles.. they suck. The only thing that helped the pain for me was ice packs and neurontin. Hot baths and even hot showers made them hurt infinitely more.

Also try not to scratch. That wont help you in the long run! Feel better, I'm sorry [Frown]

So does antiviral treatment conflict with my lyme treatment or abxs?

Singles takes the front seat now but be sure to contact your LLMD.

I dont know how the two meds will interact, but regardless you will HAVE to treat the shingles. Trust me you do not wanna wait and have the life long nerve pain.

If you take the meds this shouldn't happen. I would call your doc asap and get the meds started. I am sure your LLMD can prescribe whats necessary for the Shingles so that he/she can follow any interactions with abx treatment.

Shingles is (are?) also highly contagious - in any of the fluid from the blisters comes into contact with others - through a towel, or tissues in the trash can, etc.

Be very careful in dressing the blisters or in what fabrics are touched. You would not want others to get this.

When you call your doctor you can ask about going in but they may just want to prescribe by phone. Those with compromised immune systems would be more at risk of getting this if they come into contact.

i just got over a bad case. had them for 8 weeks and the doctor ended up just quaranteeing me cause i was a bad patient!!!! lol....

i waited too late to to the antiviral so he just gave me some pills but they made me sick.

couldn't even get out of the house. yuck... it was my lower back. i couldn't take baths or anything. and sleeping was not fun either.

had to do separate laundry and all.

and that terrasil cream really helped.
