I LOVE Phytostan, two pills twice a day [Smile] !

This is just a picture of the bottle, good luck! Also read the ingredients of everything you eat, you will be shocked how much yeast is out there....

Cold Feet, I did use the search option and got way overwhelmed! seems it is a daily discussion on this board.

Lymekuda, look like good stuff but not sure if that's what I need right now??

I went to see my LLMD and he wants me to address the yeast in my body BEFORE taking Abx for the Lyme, says a lot of my symptoms could be yeast overgrowth and from what Ive been reading it makes perfect sense.

SO, his directions are for 30 days I am to eat meat and veggies only. O_O

No gluten, sugar, starches, dairy etc

He also wants me to take Saccharomyces and Ther-Biotic Complete.

AND a Pekana Detox kit for the yeast die off that will occur.

Im broke...Is there a cheaper way? Cant I simply starve the yeast with my diet? I just want to hear how others have combatted this problem

Oh, and what is the best way to achieve this diet, I did cold turkey the other day and 24 hrs later I lost it, ate an entire can of cinnamon rolls!

here ya go!

(Click on the links!)

Candida diet and elimination:
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/021412.html

http://www.wholeapproach.com/diet/

http://www.candida-albicans-cure.com/candida-albicans-symptoms.html

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

++++++++++++

www.theralac.com has pretty good stuff!

Going after candida with all the big guns can sometimes be harmful. It is best to take things slow, at least it was best in my case. Candida is a huge issue with me, I was put on 10 days of Diflucan and i felt GREAT!! I want more.

I've heard Nystatin is less harmful on the liver but i haven't had any issues with Diflucan. Of course it is not a permanent answer, you do have to change your diet and add Probiotics to discourage future growth.

Meat and Veggies are the best way to go. Lots of veggies and good quality meat! A lot of people might say no fruit, but let's be real, your body needs it in moderation. I have either cooked Apples or Pears in the morning. I'm not a fanatic about it but it helps take the sugar edge off. Cooking them as a "stew" helps to break down the sugars or something so it is less harmful in candida cases. (I'll give you the recipe i use at the end).

Also, L-Glutamine really REALLY helped with my sugar cravings. I got the powdered form "Natural Sport" brand. 1 tsp 4-5x a day. and I have MAJOR sugar cravings, it helped and its beneficial for gut health, and also helps with muscle repair.

I'm not sure if you can just starve off all the yeast on your own without a little assistance. That is why i suggest Diflucan.

Also, gotta have probiotics. Not sure which kind is the "best" kind. Do some research.

Apple/Pear Stew:

cut up 1 Apple or 1 Pear, put in a small saucepan with a little water on the bottom (no more than 1/4 cup).

I add raisins and cinnamon and some Ghee butter.

Bring to a boil and immediately turn down to lowest setting or simmer. Set timer for 20 mins and put a cover over the pan.

Some people get VERY strict on the candida diet. quitting cold turkey is tough on the body and your mental mind frame. take baby steps, commit to them, and if you mess up don't get down on yourself just keep moving forward!

Good Luck!

That diet is a toughie, but it was the best thing I did for myself. It helped me in more ways than one. And there are good probiotics out there that won't break the bank. If I remember correctly, NOW brands is a trusted brand. But..please do the research.

I read here that refrigerated probiotics are better than those that aren't. So that's what I got.

You might want to check out Dr. B's guidelines regarding this diet. He's got all the "haves and haves not" there. Apples are allowed, but only at the end of a meal. No other fruits except for grapefruits, lemons and limes. That was the diet I followed, and it worked well for me.

Good luck to you!

Yes. forgot to add that it is best to have the fruit after a meal. I don't follow my own advice but I should. If you follow the typical Food Combining rules they always say to not have fruit with other foods, but for candida the rules should be altered until you get better control of it.

Thanks fyrecracker, my current goal is 2 weeks, and then maybe add some of the limited foods like apples occasionally.

Lymetoo, awesome links, i especially like the wholeapproach.com food list, exactly what i needed!!

Now, does anyone out there have a favorite Candida recipe site they use?? I cook like a traditional southerner for the most part so I have no clue how to use a lot of these ingredients [confused]
