I have been treating Lyme, Babes and Bartonella since June 2010. Became asymptomatic of Babes and stopped Mepron and Azithromycin 1 month ago, with no symptom relapse thus far. My Lyme symptoms have become much better with 2g Ceftriaxone IM 4 days a week and 500mg Tini 3x/day, while taking 500mg Ceftin 3x/day on the 3 days off of IM. I have been on 600mg Rifampin in the AM and 300mg in the PM and ABART and BAR 1 for 5 months now and my Bart is progressing. I have the 5cm wide, 6 inch long striations on the inside of my thighs that become painful and have grown in size, painfull soles of the feet, and unrelenting shin pain where the area of the skin has discolored to a grey-ish shade with small "nodules", and an icepick like headache only on the left temple that is pretty much there all the time now. I also have progresive smaller skin colored striations on the top of each thigh. All text book active Bart symptoms. I am allergic to sulpha and have avoided Quinolones as per the tendon issues ( I am active and in Firefighting for a career). But I am at the point now where I know I am at a dead end with both the Lyme and Bart as the progressive Bart infection will supress treatment for the two. I have just added Mino to the mix> I am willing to try a Quinolone to see if I can see significant progress. Please give me some information on levaquine, Cipro and Avelox. Do one of these have a less chance of tendon issues then the others? Can I pulse these to avoid toxicity? Any information to different bart treatments and these medications would be greatly appreciated. Thx Chris35

Hi Chris, I'm not sure how big you are-- but 900 mcg of Rifampin seems VERY high. I started this a few weeks ago and am taking 150mcg 3 times a day for a total of 450. I think my dose is a little low and im going to try to have it raised. But I think the standard amount is 600mcg. Do you know much about this? Should I raise my dose or should you lower yours-- lol.

I am 6'1". 205 pounds. My LLMD up'ed my dose a few months ago from 600mg to 900mg. I also take ABART, BAR1 and Huytennia 30 drops each a day. I just added 300mg/day Mino to my mix on Friday. January I am stopping Tini and changing to Flagyl, and also adding in Cipro. I am doing much better. Back to work for the most part, light duty fire training at the hall.... The trick is to switch and change meds often and keep the blood levels high. (By the way, the mino has made me herx instantly. It works VERY well with the Rifampin!)

Levaquin and cipro and all quinolones are good drugs .Only 1:30000 has side effects on them.If you take magnesium before taking them ore oil of MG in skin you will be fine .Just add vitamin C to that and you will lower near to zero side effects on ligaments from quinolones. Take care
