I think so, but just wondering. I'd rather not make any friends take off work to pick me up if I can just drive myself.

I did it, and then a cross country plane trip the next day. Not ideal, and best to try to baby that arm. Hope it isn't a long way or thru major traffic.

My regular lyme symptoms make me more dangerous on the road than the Picc line placement (ha ha).

- I've not had a Picc, but for other procedures, I've done things like this:
Before you even go, call someone with community education or such at the facility where you will be. Ask if there is a place you could rest before getting back into the car. If there is not, ask and locate in advance quietest lounges - or the chapel.
Take a little pillow with you so you can just lie down on your coat in the back of the room. I used to have a little sign that I placed near me that said, "JUST RESTING MY EYES" - so that no one panics.
Plan your driving route so you could pull over and rest if needed. -

umm, no problems here. veins have no feeling at all...you may have a bit of inflammation but otherwise you'll be ok.

I would think it's fine. I had someone drive me for my first one because I didn't know what to expect and it was 3 hours away.
The second one I drove myself that was only 15 minutes away.
I would not drive a manual transmision though.

Be aware that if you are having it placed at a hospital they may not allow you to be discharged until you have arranged for transportation home. This was the policy at my local hospital. They consider PICC placement to be an outpatient procedure.
Your arm may be sore and achy after placement so you might not want to drive yourself anyways.

I could have physically driven myself home, for sure. But I was so exhausted by the end of the day, I couldn't drive.
