I know there have been several threads about dark under eye circles and I have had them for years.
Over the last week or so I started waking up with puffy eyelids. Then, a few days ago, I've been getting swelling under my eyes as well.
They go away within about 4-5 hours of waking and don't hurt - it just looks awful.
Since this has happened though, my dark circles have gotten much lighter.
The ones under my eyes it almost looks like a kidney bean shape full of fluid that I can move around with my finger. It also goes away within several hours.
It almost appears as if I've been crying.
I've had my thyroid checked, haven't started any new meds, bp is ok, and it doesn't seem to be any sort of allergic reaction.
I have no symptoms of anything either, so I'm wondering if anyone else has ever had this?
Thanks for any input!

I get that too - in a BIG way.
For me it gets really bad when I eat one of my off limits food allergies or am exposed to an external allergy.
When my sinuses are flared up it also is worse first thing in the morning which gets better when I am moving around.
Do you have food allergies?

I do but I'm very careful what I eat and I haven't had anything new.
What's strange is I don't have any congestion which I usually do.
When I'm exposed to a food allergy, it lets me know in a big way!
It's almost like I traded congestion and dark circles for droopy dog's eyes.
I'm not sure which is worse.

i had this really bad for awhile. I thought that it was caused by parasite tx. But when I saw an eye doc he rx'ed rewetting drops for dry eye and since i've started using them, the swelling is gone.

Puffy eyelids, dark circles, yep, got them. Wish I could get rid of them. Adds years to my appearance.

The puffy "kidney beans" under my eyes are worse in the winter than the summer and are worse some days than others. Usually last all day for me though.
It seems to trend with barometric pressure but have to do a better job of tracking it to be sure.
For me, what stinks more than the puffiness is what it's doing to the skin under my eyes. It's super saggy now and even if the swelling is minimal, the "droopy dog" look makes me look ten years older. Hate it!

Uh, I've had it ALL the time for decades now : - ( And it's gotten much worse as I get older. Sigh. I hate it.
The dermatologist says that the fat pads have sagged down, which I'm sure it true. But it must be more than that. But mine don'tgo away at all, unfortunately. And it's both the eyelids and under the eyes. Lovely! The indignities of the illness and aging. I could get surgery for it, but, of course, with what I'm dealing with with Lyme and co, it's out of the question.
It actually feels like I can't see as well, because of it.
