Ill try to make this short. I have had Lyme for some time now, treated once with Doxy, got terribly ill while on it (which I learned is a herx?) Still tested positive after treatment, and never went back. Found a LLMD but is so expensive.

So that brings me to my question, I have a bladder infection and my doc gave me Bactrim to treat it.. Isn't Bactrim something also used to treat Lyme?? I'm just afraid its going to make me sick (herx)... Thanks

You may herx. It may work better on bart than on Lyme. I took it for Lyme and I think it helped. It was not a major part of my treatment but we got some action out of it.

Are you just going to go through life untreated?

not to scare you but i have taken doxy, clarithro, rifampin, flagyl, and bactrim, and NONE of those meds made me herx, except bactrim. It put me on my butt. I think i had a very (new?) case of lyme, and a long standing severe case of Bart though, so i am assuming thats why it kicked me around so bad. I work in a grooming salon for pets, so i think i got bart literally from a cat, not a tick!

Lymetoo - Yes, I am currently going thru life untreated. I kinda got used to the symptoms; tiredness, arthiritic pain, headaches etc and haven't acquired any new, more terrible symptoms as I read that others have.

I have a "plan" to see a local LLMD, but keep putting it off. I'm not sure if I have any co-infections of Lyme or just Lyme itself.

I guess time will tell, we will see how the next 5 days go. Thanks!
