I got home from out of town on Sunday (yes, an 8-9 hour drive by myself, probably a bad idea) and I've been very ill since then.

It started with heavy aches and high fever (flu like), diarrhea and nausea (vomited first night when I was up from 12-5 am).

That lasted for a day and a half before I broke down and took aspirin.

It helped with my body aches and fever, so I went back to work today.

Well 4 hours later, sure enough I'm feeling feverish again (fever is now 101.5 ish), sore throat and throbbing head changed to dry throat with tickle in it when breathing and a runny AND clogged nose (one side half clogged, other side completely clogged and both run).

My lyme doc in MT says go to the walk in (without reading my email first). And my homeopathic guy I'm waiting on.

I took a homeopathic remedy Sulphur 30C 2 weeks ago, and when the remedy "hits" something, it causes a reaction much like this.

My question to you guys are... when should you just break down and go to the clinic and get checked out? All they're gonna do is say I have "this or that" or they completely WONT KNOW! but they'll be sure to send you home with a handy dandy prescription which will suppress whatever the homeopathic remedy is trying to "undo".

I just don't know.

PS. I'm starting Babs treatment, but I was feeling ill before I started on BW A-Bab's Formula. So I don't think it's from that.

ANYONE??? I'm so miserable and I feel like my job is annoyed that I'm always sick. I feel worthless even tho i know i'm not. i just want to be normal.

[confused]

There are definitely a lot of nasty viruses going around. I had one last week with gi/upper respiratory symptoms, fever, etc.

Sounds to me like you have something similar. It took about 10 days before I started feeling better.

My suggestion would be to drink lots of fluids and get as much rest as possible. Hope you feel better soon.

i don't really know what is going on-but it sounds like you are sure it is Bb related

if you drove 8-9 hrs and were out in public it seems to me it would be easy for you to catch a virus . it would be for me. the drive would have worn me out physically and that is when i tend to pick up the normal type cold or flu bug.

and going back to work sick could also make it worse

it could be that.

it really is important not to blame everything on lyme. sometimes you can fix the other stuff and then you are not so miserable

i remember my working days and hiding it all from my employer. i'm so glad i am retired now.

maybe others can help you sort out if it is Bb related...but if the fever gets too high or you have sx that could be strep or broncitis you probably need to get to a doc. walk in. sometimes the lyme abx your are on won't get a certain infection

good luck. take care of yourself. i know its hard

thanx for replies.

I honestly think my major culprit right now is Babs. Short breath, Fevers, etc.

Not on any abx, just finished some not long ago. (2 weeks ago for H. Pylori)

I loathe ABX. but I guess I loathe going thru hell more.

I've just NEVER caught a flu or virus from people in a LONG time. So I guess that's why I'm surprised at this. Plus...doesn't seem like my family is getting sick and I'm all up and through their house.

Three in my family have a virus/cold/flu right now. Didn't catch it from each other and the only one with lyme is me.

I don't think spring colds/flu are common but this is certainly hitting people now.

Please check out the survivingmold.com website. I thought this was a non-issue for me. Now, after learning more, I think it may be my CENTRAL issue. And may be for all of us suffering with chronic lyme, etc.

Please start by reading just this one page (will only take about 5 minutes). Then check out the rest of the site. Your life may change. http://www.survivingmold.com/diagnosis

Best,
Tammy

Normally my first thought is always lyme&co.

However, this sounds exactly like the symptoms my daughter had last week. She was the sickest I've seen her in years and years.

She was on the couch for 5 days, barely able to stumble up the stairs by herself.

It was a virus of some sort.

It came in a hurry and left in a hurry. No one else in the house got it.

I hope that whatever the culprit is, you feel better very soon.

thanks guys.
its very bizarre.
I've heard of friends of mine across the country, non-lyme laid out with a mysterious flu, some lasting for days.

It certainly does sound like a flu. Can you stay home and rest? Going to work sick won't help you get over it.

If it's a virus, abx won't help. More likely it is a virus. Unless it goes on a long, long time, and you get a bacterial infection on top of it.

It's possible that it's a Babs herx, but doesn't really sound like it to me.

I would rethink the 8-9 hour drive in the future! Hindsight is 20/20. It surely would do me in.

I hope this was just the flu and has passed by now.

But you should probably go back on ABX for the babesia. It is so resistant and once it is entrenched, so hard to get rid. I think for every month/year we have these infections it takes twice that amount of time to get them under control.

We all hate ABX. I have quit them twice - always come back to them sicker than ever.

I think my doc will at some point put me on ABX for the Babs, but she wanted to give me a little breather following the H.Pylori treatment which killed me.

Hence, she is putting me on A-Babs because she has seen high success rates and much gentler herxing.
