The title says it all [Frown]

I just can't handle stress like I used to.

Is this from weak adrenals? Wacky hormones?

I had a situation today where I had to speak to an attorney and president of student affairs at a college. VERY nice gentleman, but had that James Earl Jones / Darth Vader voice.

Intimidated the crapola out of me and I started shaking/trembling and feeling faint while I was talking to him on the phone.

And it wasn't even anything worth getting stressed out about...that's the crazy part. The poor man is trying to help me with something.

This is just an example of how my body can't handle anything remotely stressful without my body reacting and wigging out.

It's soooo frustrating!

I used to be able to teach teachers ( talk about intimidating ) with no problem.

Now I can't even handle asking the dog groomer lady a question without shaking like a leaf.

Does this happen to other people?

Is this an adrenal thing?

Thanks

I guess I should add....my whole body/ cns just feels fried.

And, I did test low on a cortisol test.

I tried supplementing once with Cortef, but that made me feel a million times worse ( this was before I knew I had Lyme and before I knew it is a no-no ).

I have the same problem. When my nieces are visiting and if they argue, or make alot of noise I can't handle it, also if I drive far from home, I get very shaky and panicy..my nerves are so shot.

I am curious to see if anyone has overcome this.

I have to work at controlling emotions, not sure why but over-reacting really drains all my energy in a hurry. Likely there is a hormonal link. Adrenalin causes rapid sugar spike followed by low blood glucose shortly afterward.
If liver and adrenals were normal that would not be a problem for us. I have to eat about every 2 hrs as it is even without extraordinary stress.
I use ashwagandha herb to help suppress some of the emotional excess that seems to occur with Lyme. Treatment helps quite a bit, I am cycling on and off doxy/flagyl about every 3 wks or so
and this symptom gets worse towards the end of the off treatment part of the cycle.

Ladies I hear you. I am so stressed out at my job I feel like vomiting. The alopecia (sp) that was a small patch on the back of my head is enlarging very rapidly.
LLMD thinks bart is gone but when I stop treating it I seem to go into anxiety overload. Dont know how to deal with this...

Lyme?
Bart?
Adrenal Insufficiency?
Low Progesterone?

All of the above????

I'm not gonna lie. Sometimes I see people on here posting about how sick they are, and then handle doing things that would make me literally collaspe in a ball from stress/stimulation overload ( shopping, working, etc ).

Makes me think something else is seriously wrong, or like I must've somehow developed the world's worst anxiety disorder.

But I wasn't like this before. That's the thing that makes me sad. Something physical broke in me to make my body react this way. It is not a result of how I think or behave.

But what is broken to make my body act like this?
[confused]

( I'm just thinking out loud here. This shaking/trembling-for-no-reason today has really got me down because it's making my life miserable. ) [Frown]

Really could be adrenal insufficiency. Sounds awful!

That's what I'm leaning towards.

Do the adrenals come back to life with treatment? Or once they are shot, they're shot?

Hambone, it IS ok to take Cortef in judiciuos doses, if indicated by testing. Ask you LLMD about it. I certainly need it. It's not like taking Prednisone, esp in the doses you would be likely to be rx'd.

It sounds like you need to be worked up for endocrine issues, seeing if you are addressing all the infections you need to (like Bart), do detox, etc.

That said, I can totally relate. I'm not handling stress well either, and just yell a lot when I'm at home and no one is around, when I get frustrated. Or on the street in a big city where everything and everyone is coming at you intensely every which way!

Also, you may need either amino acids to help balance your neurotransmitters and/or psych med(s) to help while you are coping with this whole process. It's too darned much to handle without all the help you can get.

As Rumigirl said, it is ok to take Cortef in low doses. I just started on it yesterday, actually. My LLMD prescribed it for me.
Taxed adrenals can have a big impact on us, and I think the Cortef can be really helpful to some (hopefully me too).

I can relate to those feelings, I had them much worse than I do now when I was first ill. They have improved somewhat over about 6.5 months of treatment. I would get very shaky, panic stricken, and uncomfortable with most situations. I still do now sometimes, but it's not as extreme. I still feel like I don't deal with problems or stress very well at all.

I think a combination of the infections and adrenal problems can cause these feelings, and they are totally unbearable at times.

Best of luck with everything...

This happens to me as well. I plan to mention it to my LLMD. I really hope this is reversible.
