I'm just floored at the conclusions that are drawn from such a study comparing apples and oranges with no good controls. Amazing how the data is twisted to achieve the hypothesis. However, there is acknowledgement here that PCR testing isn't always accurate and suggests there are a lot of false positives (think this is a stretch based on the study/data) and false negatives.
Frustrating to see here that the recommended course of antibiotics is 2-3 months (including IV) yet the 'standard' of treatment (driven by IDSA of course) is only 2-4 weeks.
