I have an infected root canal tooth that has spread to my jaw bone and surgery is needed. I have been unable to tolerate any treatments, conventional and alternative, due to strong adverse reactions.
Just wondering, how wise is it to undergo surgery with active infections of lyme/babesia and probably others going on. Do I have any choice though?, the longer I leave it the more my jaw bone will be affected.

...and, if they have to remove some of the jaw bone, do they have to graft some in from somewhere else? Okay, i guess I'm starting to freak out a little...

I don't think you have a choice here, from the sounds of it. I had major jaw surgery before I knew I had Lyme, and before I got bitten 7 years ago for TMJ. Of course, the TMJ was from the Lyme.
It took me about a year to recover from bilateral jaw surgery; it was a five hour surgery. I was back to work in about a month but I never felt right, always fatigued and in pain for about a year. I think it stirred up my dormant Lyme, especially since he was operating right there in the joints where it was settled.

dogmom2, waiting to do the surgery is not beneficial at all. I had all my root canals removed and bone cleared before I ever got intensive treatment for Lyme and co-infection. It healed beautifully. I had the scars treated with Neural Therapy by Dr. K. and never had any problems afterward. No bone graft was needed. You should be okay, especially with only one bad tooth.
Please make certain that you have a dental surgeon who is Lyme literate and has a good reputation. That is the most important thing.
It is very difficult and impossible to get rid of Lyme with infected teeth and gums. Root canals are bad news.

gigi, did you get implants after or leave a space? I'm concerned about lyme infecting the implants.
Tracy9, ouch, bilateral jaw surgery. that sounds rough. I'm worried too that the surgery will stir up the lyme. I had to go on 1 week Keflex(abx) due to a bee sting infection and the area around my tooth, including lymph nodes/throat and ear became painful and I have some chills. Temp is elevated but only to 97.5 usually runs lower than that.
