Hi - wow - when a longtime symptom diminishes, feels like a bad ole evil twin has disappeared on me!
I have sweat detoxed lying on a far infrared biomat for six months, once a week for an hour, and finally I can start to touch chemicalized surfaces and breathe in smells without having to dash for the door.
I marvel at being in a store and "handling" all the smells in an aisle, or passing a bleach-filled cleaning bucket and not having to make an immediate splitsville move.
And yet, I still stare at it all, knowing how bad it's been - a very strange shift -
I'm still starting though - can't touch rubber petroleum products yet -
Sooo, for those who are chemical-sensitive and who can handle heat - I had mine up to 158 degrees, this can work - there's also portable FIR tents and large cabinets.
One more thing - when I started, I did it everyday and broke out in what I thought at the time was poison oak - but no, it was the mat working, and the toxins were on my skin. So we have to shower/wash off immediately after sweating.

That's fantastic! Thank you for sharing
Could you tell us what the biomat costs?
I really need a FIR sauna but I don't have the space OR the money

Thx, Laura - for me, nothing - a friend lent it to me, and may do so again sometime, after she uses it some -
My suggestion is to look on ebay, since prices can vary there -
I think the portable tent is going to be cheaper, and you can fold it up and put it away when you're not using it.

Yes, I have tried the portable tent - that's what gave me the idea - they always have them at our health expos in town -
like 4 tents in the booth, each with a head sticking out, merrily discussing temperature etc until we are dripping inside!
I sweated in 15 minutes time, stayed in for like another 10 minutes, then felt great for two days following, like a lot more energy.
I have a feeling the expo demo tents are not new, and thus have outgassed. I have thus never been exposed to a new one. Probably they would have to outgas somewhere else if we're sensitive.
Just remembered they also sell lie-down zip-ups too.
The biomat takes longer to build up a sweat and I don't feel the great energy afterward. In fact, I didn't think it was doing anything, and I was just doing it on faith that it would,
since it has good press for detoxing. Took six months once a week for something to finally change.
Even today, I still was noticing any bleach cleaning bucket I passed, wondering where the huge smell had gone to - so Noneventful, so Unnoticeable, so Nonalarming! lol!

OK, Robin, I know nothing about saunas (except tried 3 different kinds at a spa in Germany and LOVED them!) but you sure have gotten my attention!
Is this something that would work? The price is soooo good!

Hi 17hens - I am a walking miracle right now and enjoying it very much! I can actually be around smells like laundry, bleach, perfume -
in fact, it's confusing, because I usually protect myself from these smells, and now I'm not quite sure if they're happening or not! What a change -
The tent I tried out at the expo had ceramic heaters. Why don't you also do a search for that kind too and compare? I've never used a carbon filter tent before so have no experience to report from.
Yes, the price is good. Says no returns unless defective, so looks like you'll have to keep it, basically.
We sweat faster in a tent, like I sweated in 15 minutes, then stayed in another 10.
It takes longer to build up a sweat lying on a biomat - covered up, of course, to keep the heat in. Then I stayed another 15-20 minutes to sweat.
I had problems doing it more often, like it was overwhelming for my body, and I got the equivalent of poison oak at first, from all the toxins, then I got the flu twice when I did it too often, since that was another way for the body to detox.
So I'd say if you can handle twice a week, that's good. Unless you're not overly chem sensitive, and then it may not matter so much.
Who would have thunk it, that sweating through the skin could redeem a very chemical-sensitive situation?
I cannot tolerate detox supplements, so this was/is perfect, and I look forward to doing more in time - the person took it back 'cause they're sick now - I am enjoying my new plateau.
By all means, if you decide to get a tent, let us know how it goes.

Robin great, I also have severe MCS but cannot tolerate my biomat and also not my tent sauna. Maybe later.
I think the tent sauna is good because the head is outside and with brain inflammation this is probably better.
You also did the HPU protocol? Where are you at the protocol? I cannot tolerate 10 mg of zinc.

17hens--that ebay item looks good. Let me know if you get it. I guess you put a chair in it? It doesn't look like she's sitting on the floor.
