I always take it with a meal with a full glass of water and do not lay down afterwards.
This morning, I stopped for fast food breakfast on the way to work...I ate my sandwich, took the med with a full cup of soda.
shortly after, I had a horrible taste in my mouth.
then I started to have the "lump in throat" feeling.
I drank a full 24 oz of water and no change.
I ate some sald for lunch and I was able to swallow, but now I feel like I have food stuck both in my throat and in my back (lung area) the horrible taste came back in my mouth and I drank another 24 o of water....no change.
can I do anything else to make this go away?
Thanks so much!

I'm wondering about the Soda. It's pretty acidic so that might be the problem. Next time take it with water or a non acidic juice. Just guessing, hope it goes away soon.

Have you contacted your LLMD? I am probably being overly cautious here...but anytime you experience any sort of tingling or a tight feeling or really any sort of sensation in the mouth throat or lungs I would say run it by the doctor because it could be a sensitivity or an allergic reaction...sometimes it takes several exposures to something and the reaction can build over time...kind of like with a bee sting. You may only get puffy the first couple of times locally at the sting site an then over time with new stings it can become puffy everywhere and then mve into anaphylaxis (spelling?) Again as I said, I may be overly cautious but I wouldn"t ignore it. A phone call to the doc can't hurt...but a full on allergic reaction on the drive to work can. additionally, Doxy and Tetra are just plain crummy. I always have terrible nausea/vomiting with them. Even if I eat...which leads me to the next thing...can tend to make you crave carbs...I thought this was just me but my LLMD told me this is an actual side effect many complain of. so if you notice that you are living on pizza and gaining weight thats why. LOL Good luck and hang in there. I hope your road to recovery is a quick one!

I would think it's the combination of the fast food and soda.
Is this the first time it's happened since you've been on it?

Despite how you took the medication it sounds like the medication was/is stuck in your esophagus. Even though it may be gone now, you might have developed irritation that can take a few days to go away. My son had this with Doxy.

I couldn't tolerate Doxy and a lot of other med most take. I once took clindamycin for a tooth infection (before lyme) had no problems so the doc put me on clindamycin. Did very well on low and slow dose .. Then she wanted to change to Omnicef and Ketek but no can do. Once I get my GERD settled down going back to clindamycin.
Sounds like a reaction to me.. Let us know what the doc says.
