When symptoms are bad and hard to take mentally, physically, how long should you give it to switch? Have appt thurs. and

doxy/rif are bad fr me. I know bad is good, but what do you think, maybe bad is just bad and could be switched. I'd like to

keep some of me during treatment in tact with neuro symptoms. Since upping rif and adding doxy, tough to

approach, Iv roceph and Iv zithro got me in remission before, this has changed my thinking in not a good way, he's targeting Bart. On mid dose. Suggestions for combo for

Bart/lyme. Really Meds sensitive, can't do drastic changes. Thx much. Feel good.

It depends on the doc. But I don't hesitate to call "uncle!" when it is too much.

Hope you feel better soon,
Karen

I couldn't handle Rifampin and Minocycline. Took it for five weeks, and never worked up to full dose.

I stopped the Rifampin on my own, since I couldn't tolerate the side effects. LLMD agreed we should stop this combo.

It took almost a month for the side effects to resolve, after stopping Rifampin. Some symptoms resolve immediately - depends on the person.

If you are herxing, that is NOT the time to switch. But if you are herxing too hard, it may be the time to back off for a day or two.

just my opinion

Has it been that long being sick and they finally did the IV that got you in remission???

I read Doxy and Rifampin aren't great together. I think rifampin lowers effectiveness of Doxy as well as a ton of other meds and supplements and hormones... So an adjustment of those other items it lowers could help..

Like if you've taken Valium for a while and start Rifampin it makes the Valium half as effective or less. So the would either up dose a bit or change to lorazapam, cause Rifampin doesn't mess with that one a much.

Lots of people think Rifampin is messing with them, and it could be, but it could be that it's messing with your other doses.. [Roll Eyes] [Roll Eyes] Nonna
