My 3yr old got a tick attached to his belly. I went to pull it off with tweezers and only part of it came out, I pulled the rest out and wiped it on a tissue.
The tick and pieces of if fell apart. It just looked like a smudge. I believe it was a nymph because older ticks shells are too hard, while nymphs are still quite soft.
There is a black dot on his belly and I am not sure if it is the head still stuck in there or just the bite spot. What should I do?

- It should be examined by a doctor who will take it seriously - examined with magnification and bright light in doctor's office.
If any tick parts remain under the skin, an area around that should be excised, avoiding the tick parts being cut themselves, of course and with a tiny margin of tissue.
If you have a LLMD nearby, call them. They may be able to look at it. If not, they may know of lyme-friendly doctors who will do an exam under magnification and excise this, if any parts remain.
Be sure they use a really good magnifyied look but also be sure they know why this is so important.
If there, don't settle for being told that it "work its way out" as so many doctors think. It would need to be removed without disturbing it as much as possible.
Good luck. -

It's a bit nice to remember that not all ticks are infected. Here's hoping for the best. Hope this soon will be just a blip on the screen. -
