Does anyone know why I would feel better energy-wise when I'm not eating enough? This has been the case all through treatment. I feel so much better on days that I'm barely eating.
Obviously I try not to do that because it's not a healthy way to deal with my symptoms particularly since I'm underweight. I wonder what's going on though?

- Your body senses danger and increases stress hormones? The fight or flight response.
When the body receives starvation "alert" signals it may respond and kick up its gears - at first. Crash could follow.
And - if you aren't consuming some things that might have been not right for your body, it's glad to be free of those? Some good clues, perhaps, as to what foods to avoid?
There is a reduced stress not having to digest food but that sort of reduced stress does not last for long.
You may also feel better for not doing the work of food prep and cleanup. -

Summer, mine does the same thing (feel good). Maybe it is something related to proto?

I'm still getting into the routine of the low-fat vegan protomyxzoa diet that I added to gluten and sugar free that I've been doing for years.
I know though that when I do start eating more I'm going to crash. That's how it always is. I sometimes even faint after eating a medium-large sized meal.

When I felt better NOT eating, that was a tip-off that my yeast was getting out of control .. or I was eating too many carbs. I never feel well when I eat a lot of carbs.

I think this is from POTS.
Food in the gut increases the circulatory demand for blood flow to the gut, taking it away from the brain.
With POTS, the brain is already struggling to have enough bloodflow.
So you may need to drink an electrolyte drink 15 minutes before eating to help. And make sure you are eating enough sodium.
Never allow yourself to get dehydrated...that makes this worse too.

Summer. I think all of these are possibilities. I believe in leaky gut. And I also know I have a bit more energy when I fast like what Keebler is suggesting.
also, what about food allergies? have you ever been tested? it is kind of a chicken and an egg kind of thing of which came first, allergies or leaky gut. But if you are not caring about what you eat only nutrition it may be a good time to repair your leaky gut with one of these medical nutrition drinks. it gives your gut a rest by having the nutrients already broken down. after a week or two of this you could re-introduce things to see what you react to.
I'm sorry I don't have a name of a good one for a vegan diet-- but i bet someone on here can suggest something.
and it is possible, that you are allergic or reactive to the new things you are trying with your new diet. if you were eating meat and are now replacing that with something else... that something else may not be right for you.
