I am trying to learn more about mycoplasma. It was recently suggested to me as a possible cause of my remaining issues, and I do have a lot of the symptoms, so I would love some more info.
What is the best way to dx it? What are the tests and are they reliable? Are the good LLMDs pretty familiar with it?
And just as importantly how to get rid of it?
Am currently just on pulsed Ceftin and mild HBOT, but have done rounds and rounds of strong abx combos over the past three years.
thank you!

"Frequent exposures to Mycoplasmas are common, resulting in a high prevalence of seropositivity, so the best way to confirm active infection is by PCR." (page 5 of Burrascano)
So, here Burrascano says that the best way to know if you actually have myco (rather than having just been exposed to it, like many have been) is by PCR.
I don't know the accuracy rate.

At least for myco pneumonia, frequency treatments work quite well. Not sure if it can be totally eliminated, but it can be greatly reduced.
This is one of four pathogens involved in my Crohn's disease. Excessive fatigue and fistulas is what it causes in my case. At least that is what I experienced while suffering from it.
Zithromax will also reduce it, but it is very temporary with an impaired immune system.

I just spoke with my son's LLMD and he said Byron White's Mycoplasma formula can be used instead of Ketek. We are looking into using this as an alternative.

Dr. Garth Nicolson should be googled.
In the kids with PANS, it often requires combo antibx (doxy, Biaxin) and titers checked regularly to see movement.
Stephen Buhner's co-infection book Bart/ Mycoplasma tells great detail- need for nutrition, amino acids.

You can either go the abx route, or the herbal route. Surprise is right, Stephen Buhner has a good book on it. Also, Byron White's formula.

Hopeandpray, I took BWF a-myco for awhile. I think it brought my IgG titers down some, but I didn't necessarily feel more energetic. I have HHV6 high levels, so that may be the problem.

This is all fantastic info -thank you so much!
I definitely feel that I have an acute mycoplasma infection right now. I have bronchitis with wheezing and even the urgent care doc mentioned likely due to mycoplasma (did not do the test though).
I suspect that this has been with me much longer and flared now for whatever reason. I am now on Biaxin but it's only a short course to start. Definitely need to pursue this further.
