I have lyme disease - the lyme has attacked somewhere in the neck / head region, spreading toxins into my brain. This started last July after a tick bite but went undiagnosed until December. In november, my brain became so toxic that my prefrontal cortex literally shut down (this is my conclusion, not the doctors').

After taking the following from January-March from 1-2 months each, I felt ZERO changes or herx: Doxy, Plaquenil, Diflucan, Bicilin, Tetracycline, Tinnodozole.

Then, two weeks ago (while taking just tetracycline), I started taking 30 drops of Samento twice a day, 1 gram serra peptase twice a day, and 30 drops banderol twice a day.

About a half hour after the first dose, I could feel something different. By the second day, I was actually going through a herx! The progress lasted 3-4 days with typical herx reaction and then stopped completely. Since then, the supplements have caused ZERO changes.

I now feel as if that progress has been lost, as I can actually feel the lyme growing again. Symptoms still there.

I'm also on a new bottle of samento - which for some reason tastes watery compared to my first bottle (which had sat in the closet for several months).

I ordered an extra bottle and it also tastes watery compared to my first bottle - so maybe that has something to do with it.

Any thoughts / suggestions? Does Samento get stronger as it sits for a long time? Or was running out of the bottle probably coincidence?

Because the lyme is localized, I think it is protected under a thick biofilm?

Anyone have a case like this where antibiotics seemed to do nothing?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm already seeing several lyme doctors but am still sick.

Thanks,

Also - I don't have lyme anywhere else in my body - just in a localized location. Cognitive symptoms from the lyme toxins are severe - ever since the brain "shut down" in November. Thanks,

Since the tick bit you somewhere in your body and the lyme bacteria have traveled through your blood to your brain, the lyme is not localized.

Lyme is only localized at the moment you are bitten. As soon as you get any constitutional (physical or bodily) symptoms, that tells you that the lyme has spread.

Lyme can get into the brain within 24 hours of a tickbite, so your case is typical for lyme. As time goes on, you will likely notice more bodily systems affected by the disease.

If you are on lousy lyme treatment, then you will not notice any improvements. You have to be on GOOD lyme treatment for a period of time (can't give a hard and fast rule of how long) before you will notice improvements.

Generally, the longer you have been sick, the longer to see improvement.

So, the first thing you need to do is evaluate the lyme treatment you have been given. To do that, go to pages 18-19 of the Burrascano Lyme Treatment Guidelines found here:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

Those pages tell you what antibiotics kill lyme and also the dosages you have to take to kill it.

See if you were on the correct meds and DOSAGES.

Also, read the section called "Combination Therapy" on pages 12-13. You need to be on a combination of meds to kill lyme in all its forms.

Determine if you were on a correct combination of meds.

Every person with lyme needs to know how to evaluate their lyme treatment. I wasted 2 LONG years going to a doc who gave me lousy lyme treatment. I hate to see that happen to folks, but it happens all the time.

So, educate yourself and learn how to tell good treatment from bad.

See this quote on page 12:

"GENERAL INFORMATION
After a tick bite, Bb undergoes rapid hematogenous dissemination, and for example, can be found within the central nervous system as soon as twelve hours after entering the bloodstream. This is why even early infections require full dose antibiotic therapy with an agent able to penetrate all tissues in concentrations known to be bactericidal to the organism."

The central nervous system means the brain and spinal cord.

Since your brain has been affected so seriously, I hope you are able to do this reading and then find a doctor who follows the Burrascano protocol. Then, I expect you will begin to feel better.

Medical abbreviations you need to know when reading pages 18-19:

bid = twice per day
tid = three times per day
qid = four times per day
q12h = every 12 hours
qd = every day

Good for you for finding LymeNet! We will help you here all we can.

I got rid of lyme by going to a Burrascano type doctor and so did at least 5 of my personal friends. And, I had lyme (and babesiosis and bartonella) for at least 10 years before I was diagnosed.

I'm using a strong brand of Cats Claw. On M/W/F, 1 capsule 3x/d, and then take about 7 drops of Banderol tincture at noon since they are supposed to work together. I take NOW Cat's Claw 10:1 Concentrate, 1.5 percent Standardized Extract. It takes care of my brain fog issues. For Babesia which is the most common coinfection, I take 1 Artemisinin capsule and 15 drops Red Root tincture twice daily. Slowly I feel that my symptoms are lessening. Cats Claw brought me back to brain health; no more weird, crazy fears and bizarre frightening dreams. Very little brain fog.
