Hi,
I just recently moved from AZ to Oregon. It was a big deal..moving children, selling house and packing house. I did great through it all until we got here. I really like Oregon, so it's not that. I don't know if the stress of it all finally got to me or what. I've been having full body tremors, chills, I will all of a sudden feel a woooshing in my chest and then feel like Im about to pass out. My chest wall hurts a lot, my brain feels lost. I did go to the ER a few days ago and my EKG and bloodwork looked fine so I am wondering if this is Lyme Flare or Anxiety. Thanks in advance

IMO, "anxiety" is rarely really "anxiety" but a symptom of whatever is causing that. It should never be the diagnosis, IMO and

I don't even like to see it listed as a symptom for it's really more of a neurological irritation or adrenal exhaustion or cardiac exhaustion. Sometimes, a vestibular system irritation can get involved, too.

The term "anxiety" is a trash can term that does nothing to describe what is really going on and I hope the doctors at the ER did not toss you there. But be aware that if you even whispered lyme in any ER in Oregon, you might not be taken seriously at all -- even if just as a reference point, part of your background.

Not sure where you are regarding your treatment path with lyme / TBD. Regardless, sounds like

adrenal exhaustion.

Do you have a LL ND (naturopathic doctor) in Oregon? Or a LLMD outside of Oregon? You might check in with whomever is treating you.

I assume by now you are aware that there are no LLMDs in Oregon and that, among MDs, lyme is one of the most hostile topics of all. But, setting that aside, the MDs will not know anything about how lyme works in a body or how to interpret what point you are at if still being treated.

Maybe you are done with treatment, still, there would be considerations with how a body works for a while even in an early recovery phase.

Still, glad your EKG was fine. Two major lights that go one first for me:

1. Is your adrenal support adequate? Are you taking REST SESSIONS when you feel the need?

Can you get help with your kids so that you can do some AGRESSIVE REST SESSIONS?

2. Splitting your MAGNESIUM into THREE doses a day?

3. FISH OIL is vital, too, to help calm nerve fibers.

Getting enough rest? With them move, do not underestimate the toll that can take on adrenals.

And, we are coming up on a major heat wave with 105 predicted this weekend. You may not have AC as many do not here but, whatever the case, be sure to plan. The two week forecast after tomorrow is all above 95.

Oh, I just realized you just came from much hotter territory. Your body may do far better than most but remember lyme can really alter the way the body manages heat. Be careful.

You will need to take special care with your adrenals right now. I sure hope you have a ND you can consult.

Thank you!!

I don't know any ND's in the area, I am in the Hillsboro area right now, do you know anyone you would recommend? we just got here a few weeks ago. I feel so frustrated bc I really like it here and feel like my body is freaking out on me...making me quite sad and scared since I do not have Dr's here yet.

I did wonder about my adrenals too....I am extremely sensitive to any supplements and usually only do homeopathic.

I will go get some magnesium today though, I used to take it a long time ago. I will research and see if I can find an ND to see as well.

The OLDN links above can best connect you to the LL NDs. There are two ILADS educated LL NDs within 20 minutes to you both on your side of I-5, one slightly to your south, other to your north. But best if you talk to OLDN first and ask their suggestions for the better fit.

If you have to drive on Hwy 217, do NOT do that anytime after 3 pm if you can help it. Find the back roads. There are a lot of good back roads to avoid highways.

Oh, DO like it here. Oregon is a beautiful place and some very nice people here. But right now, sounds like you are in need of serious aggressive REST.

It's okay to feel sad. Quite understandable. Just know, that's part of anyone's move often and that your body requires special care so nourish and nurture.

Take in the fabulous nature here. You will find your "tribe" soon. First, rest and enjoy your family. You will all learn much about yourselves and each other during this time. Good stuff, even if it may feel off kilter at first, know what matters is your spirit and love.

With July Fourth coming up, it's especially important for you to settle on some kind of adrenal support.

And important to plan around noise. I sure hope you do better than I around this kind of thing but if not, planning is essential, even in having meals planned so you can plan to be out of sorts around noise and hunker down, arrange extra help with kids, etc.

Ear plugs / decibel rated ear muffs if you need them, etc. People tend to go a bit nuts around here in their yards and driveways with firecrackers around that time from now until mid-July. So plan ahead.

If you go to a fireworks event, all the "cities" (not called suburbs around here) near you each has their own, Hillsboro may but certainly Beaverton & Tigard, put on quite a show.

Check the websites for your little "city" and those around you. And Google maps for traffic bypasses.

I suggest staying on your side of town and not going into the downtown Portland or up to Vancouver's huge event . . . mainly due to traffic, smoke, crowds.

ARNICA homeopathic can help for "shock" kinds of startles but more just after the fact.

Cordyceps & Ashwagandha should be easy for you. Homeopatics can help with symptoms at the time and also to some degree to help "reset" things but, IMO, you also need actual adrenal "food" and the nutrients in those two herbs are very good.

You might start with just the single herbs rather than a full mixture as sometimes, the fuller mixtures can be a little strong for those sensitive.

By now, you likely know that NEW SEASONS MARKET is a locally owned collection of markets with good foods and excellent supplements. There are various WHOLE FOODS around, too.

Right in your neighborhood, so you might be able to see from your own backyard or a park you can just walk to near you.

Please have excellent ear protection so you might enjoy the show - or your life during the show, anyway. Antibiotics (and many other kinds of Rx and OTC products even for months after stopping) can make our ears more subceptible (?) to sound damage so ear protection really matters.

Not so much with the Blue Angels (they will likely just show up at their slotted time and then zoom off) but the day before and even that Monday after, there will a lot of air traffic there.

Some sonic booms, too. Maybe about 5 - 8 over that week. ARNICA homeopathic is great to have on hand for those. Could be a fun science project for your kids to learn how they happen (just don't let them jar you too much)

The Oregon International Air Show

Hillsboro Airport on July 17 - 19

THE U.S. NAVY BLUE ANGELS

- and many other kinds of aircraft & air show during the weekend

If you enjoy this, fantastic. I saw the Blue Angels many decades ago and will never forget their precision and the awe.

If not your cup of tea, just remember that where you live you can go over to the coast and have far less city traffic as you both get out of town and return.

Fabulous coast here . . . just over an hour away. Hope you can enjoy getting to know all the goodness.

resaz, I moved a little over a year ago and it really took its toll on me too. It is a huge undertaking - even for someone without Lyme! I am amazed at all you did - with kids in tow!

I bet once you are settled in, you will notice some improvement. I am glad Keebler is able to offer you some good suggestions and to have a Lyme friend in your new area is a really good thing! [Smile]

Best wishes to you and congrats on being brave enough to do this! I think you must be one very strong person!

Thank you so much for your responses. I got some Calm today to maybe try but then I read it can lower your blood pressure and heart rate....?? I have really low blood pressure to begin with. I also got a liquid magnesium to try, I figured I would be able to control the dose a bit more that way?
I will contact the OLDN and see who they say too. When I looked online before posting here I saw one LLND near me but she didn't have good reviews.... I would almost rather see a GOOD ND who may not know a lot about Lyme then a LLMD who is not rated very good.
Thank you so much for all your recommendations about the area too!!! [Smile] I am loving the weather and want to really be able to get out and enjoy things with my Husband and kids and feel ok!!

resaz,

Do not trust online reviews, either good or bad. You have no way of knowing if they are legitimate. Talk / email OLDN.

There are NO LLMDs in Oregon so a LL ND is the only option. But ONLY a ND who is also ILADS educated, as are a couple in your very own backyard, nearly.

Please, do NOT go to a ND who does not know much about lyme or even one who has not gone through the ILADS physician training program. Unless they are a true LL ND, they likely will not be able to help very much at all.

The LL ND in the Tigard area even teaches other NDs as per the ILADS training program. The one in Beaverton also has had some good reports. Again, best to talk with both the OLDN and the Portland Lyme support group, also listed at the OLDN website linked above.

They can also share detail about LLMDs to the north in Washington state.

Breathing room for the eyes:

Many here have trouble with such tight posts of solid text. Paragraphs are best to be 3-4 finished lines, maximum. That's about 5-6 in the compose mode. More will be able to read and reply that way.
