Excellent article!

Maybe we will be able to help dismantle the CDC. Wouldn't that be fun?

Hey TX,

Yes, very well documented. I hope all of them are crying in the hall real soon. Or better yet are out on their butts in the cold.

Their castle is starting to crumble, just not fast enough for me.

How timely. Thanks for sharing, TC. I had just finished looking at a few webpages on the CDC website for Lyme disease, and I was astounded to notice that the CDC still references the IDSA Treatment Guidelines which were removed from the National Clearing House for Guidelines last year because they had not been up-dated, as required.

It seems dishonest to me that this infamous IDSA reference has not been deleted yet, even a full year after it was deleted from the National Clearing House website, which is a branch of the NIH. It's as if the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

Obviously, to delete the IDSA reference would not be easy because then they wouldn't have any other similar reference which they could link to, and that would invalidate the entire CDC position on Lyme disease.

Maybe they think that we are too stupid to notice, but it's more likely that they just don't care enough to bother dealing with their out-dated IDSA references, which are frequently quoted in other sections of the CDC website on Lyme disease.

Take a look for yourself and pay close attention to the notations at the bottom of each webpage which indicate when that webpage was last updated. This situation is inexcusable, especially considering that it's been almost a full year already since the old 2006 IDSA Guidelines were nullified.

Hey Tx,

You are welcome! I agree it is {add lots of bad words here} to have them on there. A number of people have been trying to get them off, but so far no luck. CDC is stalling with their response. The IDSA/CDC wants them there.

SHAME ON THEM!!!

There are several versions of an unsubstantiated story on the internet about an FBI raid on CDC headquarters in the wee hours of the morning (3: am ET) which dovetails nicely with this article, which was written prior to that date. Here is my favorite version of the story: http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index2216.htm

(The Google search terms I used were very simple: "raid on CDC headquarters")

Needless to say, these reports have been denounced by Snopes as "fake news" -- but so what? Personally, I no longer trust Snopes because it is so left-wing. I trust my own instincts and intuitions more than I do Snopes.

The facts of this story sound convincing and believable enough to me, so I'm keeping an open mind about it. I'm curious to see how it all plays out, but I don't expect to hear much more about it anytime soon.

Vaccine Critic Robert Kennedy Jr Says He'll Head Trump Safety Panel
Robert Lowes|January 10, 2017
Vaccine critic Robert Kennedy Jr said today that he will accept an assignment from President-elect Donald Trump to head a commission on vaccine safety and scientific integrity.

"Everybody ought to be able to be assured that the vaccines we have — he's very pro-vaccine, as am I — but they're as safe as they can possibly be," the son of the late US Senator Robert Kennedy told reporters after he met with the incoming president at the Trump Tower in New York City.

But despite what Kennedy told reporters after his meeting with Trump, CNN is reporting that the Trump transition team says no decision has been made on setting up a commission to look at vaccines and autism.

"The President-elect enjoyed his discussion with Robert Kennedy Jr. on a range of issues and appreciates his thoughts and ideas. The President-elect is exploring the possibility of forming a commission on Autism, which affects so many families; however no decisions have been made at this time.

The President-elect looks forward to continuing the discussion about all aspects of Autism with many groups and individuals," Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks said in a statement quoted by CNN.

Kennedy has promoted the widely discredited notion that childhood vaccines and influenza vaccines containing thimerosal, a preservative that contains mercury, can trigger autism and other neurological disorders. Trump has voiced similar views in speeches and tweets.

The alliance of the two men alarms infectious disease experts such as Paul Offit, MD, author of the book Deadly Choices: How the Anti-Vaccine Movement Threatens Us All.

"He should avail himself of experts in vaccine and vaccine safety instead of conspiracy theorists," Dr Offit told Medscape Medical News.

Kennedy earned a reputation as a vaccine conspiracy theorist with a 2005 article in Rolling Stone magazine — also published online in Salon — that accused government health agencies of covering up the risk of thimerosal in vaccines.

By that time, the preservative had been removed or lowered to trace amounts in childhood vaccines as a precaution, although later studies found that there was no causal link between the preservative and autism. Salon later retracted the article over inaccuracies.

Kennedy, a respected environmental activist credited with helping to clean up the Hudson River, plunged into the vaccine wars again in 2014 with a book titled Thimerosal: Let the Science Speak. While covering much of the same ground as the Rolling Stone article, the book describes the supposed thimerosal threat more in terms of neurodevelopmental disorders than autism per se, which had become a lightning-rod word by then.

"They took out everything controversial and just made it pure science," Kennedy told Medscape Medical News that year.

The book's reception in the scientific community was predictable. Steven Salzberg, PhD, a professor of medicine, computer science, and biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, wrote in Forbes at the time that Kennedy's advocacy of bad science "will cost lives if it hasn't already."

The book was published by Skyhorse Publishing, which also has published two books by Andrew Wakefield, whose discredited study linking the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine to autism has fueled the so-called antivax movement. Banned from practicing medicine in Great Britain on account of his research, Wakefield directed a 2016 documentary titled Vaxxed that continues his crusade.

"Potentially a Dangerous Decision"

Wakefield figures into Trump's vaccine agenda because the president-elect met with him last summer, to the delight of his followers. However, Trump had been a critic of current childhood vaccination practices well before that. In 2014, he famously tweeted, "Healthy young child goes to doctor, gets pumped with massive shot of many vaccines, doesn't feel good and changes - AUTISM. Many such cases!"

Dr Offit questions the need for Trump's new vaccine safety commission, saying that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention fields an Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. "It already exists; it's doing its job," said Dr Offit, the coinventor of the rotavirus vaccine, and a frequent contributor to Medscape.

He also questions Kennedy's ability to lead such a scientific endeavor. "What does Robert Kennedy have to offer?" Dr Offit said. "He still believes thimerosal causes autism.

"That's a dead issue. Vaccines are safe and effective and have saved lives."

The announcement that Kennedy will lead a vaccine safety commission also drew criticism from Michael Osterholm, PhD, MPH, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

"The appointment of Robert Kennedy Jr to head up a commission on vaccine safety and scientific integrity is a lot like putting a person who believes the world is flat in charge of the leading global geographic information system initiative," Dr Osterholm told Medscape Medical News. "Mr. Kennedy's appointment is potentially a dangerous decision if it sends a message to parents that vaccines are not safe and not necessary.

"If that happens, kids will get sick and even die because of the misinformation that will come from this commission."

Kennedy and the Trump administration transition team did not respond to requests for an interview.

Also this article appeared today on MedScape which seems intended to counter the previous article. (The timing of this article tells me that there is very likely truth in the previous article and that opposition forces have been busy getting ready to fight against it.)

Leading Health Groups Tell Trump: Vaccines Safe, Save Lives
Megan BrooksFebruary 10, 2017
The American Academy of Pediatrics and some 350 other leading US medical, advocacy, and professional organizations have sent a letter to President Trump expressing their "unequivocal support" for the safety of vaccines.

"Vaccines protect the health of children and adults and save lives. They prevent life-threatening diseases, including forms of cancer. Vaccines have been part of the fabric of our society for decades and are one of the most significant medical innovations of our time," the letter reads.

In January, as reported by Medscape Medical News, a spokeswoman for then President-elect Trump told CNN he was considering forming a commission on autism. It was reported at the time that Robert F. Kennedy Jr, a proponent of the debunked theory that vaccines cause autism, was in the running to head the commission.

Kennedy has promoted the widely discredited notion that childhood vaccines and influenza vaccines containing thimerosal, a preservative that contains mercury, can trigger autism and other neurologic disorders. Trump has voiced similar views in speeches and tweets.

Globally, vaccines prevent the deaths of roughly 2.5 million children each year, the letter notes. Just among children born in the United States in 2009, routine childhood immunizations will prevent roughly 42,000 premature deaths and 20 million cases of disease at a savings of more than $82 billion, it points out.

Claims that vaccines are unsafe when administered according to expert recommendations have been disproven by a robust body of medical literature, including an exhaustive review by the National Academy of Medicine, the letter says.

The February 7 letter includes an attachment from healthychildren.org that provides a snapshot of published studies on the safety and effectiveness of vaccines.

"Delaying vaccines only leaves our nation's citizens at risk of disease, particularly children. As a nation we should redouble our efforts to make needed investments in patient and family education about the importance of vaccines in order to increase the rate of vaccination among all populations," the letter reads.

It concludes: "Put simply: Vaccines are safe. Vaccines are effective. Vaccines safe lives."

The organizations signing the letter say they welcome the opportunity to meet with President Trump to share the "robust, extensive scientific evidence supporting vaccine safety and effectiveness."

TX Lyme Mom,

I totally agree that the opposition is trying to fight the truth.

I think they will have difficulty now that RFK Jr has been appointed to a vaccine safety commission. However, the opposition is very good at cover-ups and semantics, so they will continue to adjust the truth to fit their needs.

I saw this yesterday:

How about vaccines for animals ? I know they are not humans but they have a Life !!

Dec 3rd I heartbreakingly had to put my beloved dog of 11 years down. It took everything I had and the strength from God to hold that dog in my arms as the vet put him to sleep..

Best yellow lab I will ever own. Through some of the worst suffering from lyme disease I have ever endured that dog stayed next to me silently but of great comfort, he was EVERYTHING to me..

I did some research and found why my "DUKE" suddenly went downhill quickly... LYME DISEASE VACCINE from the vet.. I am not the only person whom this has happened to..

The vaccine has mercury, aluminum and a bunch of other junk in it and it was killing my dog....I cannot be without a dog in my home and had to get another dog quickly to help me move on from the devastation of such a loss..

I went to the SPCA in NY not far from where I get Lyme treatment and I adopted a an 11 month old dog.. I named her TESSA, she is very sweet and such a blessing....

I WILL NOT BE LYME VACCINATING HER EVER ... If she shows symptoms of lyme I will treat her with antibiotics..

Just wanted to share that !!

Dekrator, that last interview with 2 doctors was great.

Thank you for sharing.

The treatment for autistic, ADHD, most brain disorders we see rising in childhood looks very similar to chronic lyme disease treatment!!

So many people treating lyme do exactly what is recommended by these doctors to treat autism and neuro diseases (gluten free, dairy free, toxin elimination, etc).

Nice to know that more doctors are going apart from mainstream.

sweetmelissa,

I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved dog, Duke.
I can't blame you for not vaccinating Tessa.

Brussels,

Yes, I think people are finally realizing that the way to treat any chronic condition/illness is through a functional medicine approach which addresses multiple factors such as infections, heavy metals, gut health and diet, toxins, detox, etc.
