Anyone have good flu remedies? I have it horribly, on top or Lyme. ): I must have a bad fever because I can't stop shaking.

I'm taking lipo-c and lauricidin now. Thinking about adding essential oils, colloidal silver. I've never tried silver before though.

Anything else? This is horrible.

Do you have any Olive Leaf Extract. Whenever I start to feel sick, even flu-like, I take some and usually start to feel better within a few hours.

Good idea, thanks pebbles! I think I may have some. I've heard Seagate brand is best, but I'm not sure what mine is. Definitely not Seagate though. I haven't taken it in quite a while, I forgot about it.

Sorry sicksam, it doesn't seem fair, I know.

I love alka selzer gold. Or alka selzer plus cold formula.

It has aspirin, antihistamine, and nasal decongestant.

Works wonders to alleviate suffering.

Hope you feel better soon.

[shake] [Frown]

Feel better soon. I have no remedies. I do take Mucinex when I get sick. I had to have antibiotics and a steroid inhaler in January when I got sick.

Take care, Sam.

Thanks Lymetoo. Mucinex is a good suggestion. (: Anything to help clear these sinuses would be beneficial I think. I just have to overcome my fear of new medicine though.

I looked at my Alka seltzer gold and there's not any aspirin or antihistamine in it. ): Found my ole and its Swanson. It expired last month but reckon it's probably still ok.

Detail here on why acetaminophen and also ibuprofen can cause more problems at a time when the liver & kidneys are so very stressed with toxins from a flu.

STINGING NETTLE LEAF (not root) - Links set

The herb, STINGING NETTLE may serve to compensate for the reaction by calming the the cytokine storm. This is helpful against a herx, as you may already know . . .

and it is also a major supplement to have on hand for any kind of flu as a cytokine storm can present the most risk from a flu.

IMO, this is a required flu support, going hand in hand with Black Elderberry tincture for support and something stronger & direct such as: LDM-100 (Lomatium root), Allicin, Berberine or Andrographis.

Back later with more detail, maybe - but there's enough here to go on with a search. Start at

WATER is one of the best lung helpers to reduce phlegm . . . as is avoiding dairy & gluten (and corn) as they are all prone to producing phlegm in lungs and in body, too. Phlegm can harbor all kinds of nefarious infections as well as contribute to misery and pain.

An organic lemon & ginger tea with stevia or a little honey can be very good. Just remember to rinse and swish mouth soon after any citrus to protect tooth enamel and do not brush for at least a half hour.

Avoid cold beverages / food. Ginger root in everything - really, just about everything - can add a nice touch and help in so many ways.

GINGER ROOT CAPSULES, more direct help for lungs and body comfort.

Many of the support methods mentioned above can be searched here, along with so much more detail by searching body organs, systems or symptoms.

Though not at all about lyme, this is one of the best reference resources on my bookshelf that has wonderful chapters, many graciously available through their website.

ELDERBERRY (Sambucus species)

http://www.itmonline.org/kunzle/chap2.htm

ITM - CHAPTER TWO Tracing the history of European herbology

Excerpt (toward bottom of article)

. . . Künzle . . .

One of his favorite remedies was elderberry juice. He pointed out that "Elderberry cleanses the digestive system and promotes healthy elimination.

This is most essential to good health." Father Weidinger believed that elderberry protects the body from serious diseases, and observed: "Elderberry reduces inflammation and relieves the body of impurities. In this manner it also balances the emotions."

There are some homeopathic pellets that are to be taken weekly all during flu season and a different formulation of those to be taken at the very first sign of a "flu" onset and then for a week or so daily to help lessen the symptoms.

starts with OCC . . . . others will likely have detail on this.

OLE - helpful is so very many ways.

Pebbles mentions an excellent one: Olive Leaf Extract above. And, yes, Seagate is the best -- though there are a couple of brands that use similar practices.

A very specific brand of Olive Leaf extract (or a brand that uses the same methods of growing, harvesting, processing) - Seagate. Detail:

Thanks for the ideas MannaMe and bcb1200! I'll look into those. I did start using my peppermint essential oil and it helped some.

Whew! I'm through the worst part of the flu. Still sick but not running as much fever now. One of the most helpful things so far has been sweating out my fever. Piled on the blankets and got my temp up to 101.5. Who knows, maybe it killed a little Lyme too!
