Hi- thought I'd reply, as I see no replies:
I did some rounds of Albendazole last year, and yes! I found it hard.
What are you doing for detox? Things like Epsom salt baths, sweating, glutathione, massage, milk thistle, etc.
Also, make sure bowels are moving to get the gunk out. Sometimes a binder (like fiber drink, bentonite clay, etc.)
given a couple hours after the medication dosing can help.
I am currently on an herbal parasite protocol, and it's no fun over here, either :-/
Rest if you can, hang in there---

Thanks!!!!! I am surprised how intense my herxes have been with ivermectin / albendazole . I am convinced lyme disease = PARASITE disease . Why else would the herx reactions be so miserable ? And no wonder we do not get well with ABX!!!!
Surprise, when you did rounds of albendazole, how much did you take and for how long? I can not see stoppimg it soon because it is obviously killing something HORRIBLE that needs to die .
What are you taking now for parasites ?

Well, let's see... before Lyme treatment, I did Humaorm one summer.
Ketoconazole for yeast hit parasites. The Albendazole rounds were for 2 weeks on, then on day 14 also take Ivermection,
rest, repeat. Did that 3 times. I was on Tindamax 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off for 7 months, and that hit parasites.
Did some weeks of Ivermectin, Alinia, cloves. Little bit of Salt/C.
Anyway, I've been off all treatments for about 5 months, but then ran into gastro trouble.
So I am now on Renew Life ParaGone and Diflucan, and herbs and supplements to try and heal/fix.
Hard to talk about, but enemas and keeping those bowels moving (lots of water) to get the toxins out.
Ugh, I know, but real.

ms dixie - I think you are right that "lyme disease = PARASITE disease". I think it may be the biggest, most unrecognized piece of the puzzle. But more docs are starting to catch on slowly, thank God.
I didn't have much trouble with Albenza. Maybe it's be because I started with other things first. I've repeated Dr. K's protocol several times (which is fairly high doses of everything). Am about to do it again.
Biltricide - 3 days Ivermectin - 14 days w/ Pyrantel at night Albendazole - 14 days Alinia - 14 days
By far, treating for parasites has given me the most improvement. I passed parasites daily for a year. This past month some other things have come up so I wasn't treating much. But I know as soon as I start next week, I will begin passing again. It's been crazy. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't been seeing it for myself!
BTW - I noticed that if I did coffee enemas every day, they kept exiting the following morning. If I skipped the coffee enemas, they wouldn't come out the next day. You may want to consider adding coffee enemas into your regimen. I cannot say enough good things about them (google 'Gerson Therapy Coffee Enemas' if your are unfamiliar with this amazing therapy). They are my favorite detox tool. If you want some details on how to go about it, I've typed up some tips on how to do it. Just let me know and I can post for you.
Stay on course. It takes years to treat effectively. Then lifelong maintenance. I will never not pay attention to this important aspect of getting well.
Take good care.

I have been on albenzadole for 3 weeks every other day. It is murder. It seems premature to go off of it since I am still having a nasty herx.
I herxed miserably for several weeks with ivermectin. I stayed on it , every other day for over a year , and my asthma improved a GREAT DEAL!!
I cannot believe how rough this is, considering we are all DXed w/ Lyme disease. I wish I knew exactly what the parasite meds is killing. I suspect babesia primarily. Or perhaps they have the ability to eradicate biofilm and enable the immune system to locate lyme spirochetes. I just know the parasite meds kill as intensely as ABX LIKE dOXY , MINO, BACTRIM.

neff - that's it. I am heavily infected and have done really well with this protocol.
Another footnote about the coffee enemas -- not only did they keep the bugs coming out daily.... I think the detox benefits are what allowed me to tolerate the protocol so well. I cannot say enough good things about coffee enemas.

Tammy, I can't drink coffee because the caffeine sends me off the deep end. Don't you absorb caffeine when you do a coffee enema?
I am very apprehensive about doing that protocol exactly as Dr. K directs. It seems overwhelming and I am worried about side effects.
After using ivermectin for a couple of months at 12 mg a day and then 6 mg, it began to make my eyes blood shot and gave me bad headaches.

I herxed on albenza. It hit me harder than any of the other parasite meds (die off). But I felt better afterwards.
I agree with Tammy, coffee enemas really help. So do binders. You need something to move the dead and dying parasites, as well as the toxins they excrete out of them while dying (that's what's making you feel so bad).
Gigi has posted before about parasites carrying heavy metals. If you just kill the parasites, you are left with all the metals that the parasites were carrying in their coats. Binders are necessary here.

neff - I don't drink caffeinated coffee as it makes me jittery also. But the enemas don't seem to cause an issue for me at all. You use 3 tablespoons per 4 cups of filtered water. If you want to give it a go, just start with 1T and see how you do.
Regarding the bloodshot eyes (that stinks!)- I'm not sure about that. At the highest dose I get a little unusual light sensitivity, but I don't get bloodshot eyes. Discuss it with your pharmacist and doctor to make sure you are not causing a risk to your vision.
Maybe the iver is killing something in your eyes??

Albenza has been so helpful. Biltricide knocked me out for 2 days, ivermectin was hell (woke up clawing my face, lip, ears bc of itchiness, severe pain behind one eye, awful headaches, balance problems, anxiety, insomnia), albenza immediately had been so helpful, however if I stop it I feel like my symptoms come raging back. I tried Alinia for 2 days and that was miserable as well with really bad drunken dizziness.
So I went back to albendazole and added doxycycline. I had my first few hours if feeling somewhat normal while taking albenza - amazing after almost 3 years of treatment with not much improvement.
I know I need to clean up yeast and heavy metals next. And I need to start coffee enemas as well. Feeling hopeful finally.

Also meant to say albendazole is related to flagyl and tindamax. It is a cyst buster. Lyme md blog said it is an effective cyst buster along with flagyl and tindamax....tindamax being the most effective, albenza the least.

The albenza is getting a bit easier now. I encourage ANYONE who has treated a long time with minimal progress to target parasites , which I suspect are the missing link in this baffling condition. Unfortunately , it all seems to be a case of experimenting and shooting in the dark.
When I stop the iver for a while I seem to have a return of asthma . The iver and albenza seemt ostop twitches, but if I stop them both a few days , the twitches return. Gael is probably right that treating this is a lifelong battle. I do not think there will be a forever cure all. My goal is to achieve better function if possible.
I am rotating parasite meds and started nano silver , which is also delivering a knockout punch at 3/ 4 tsp . I will keep my progress posted, though it is slow because of herxing even after years of treatment and ABX and herbs.

what about an epsom salt purge .. that is drink a quart or so of epsom salt water that would go right thru the system and out the other end. would it carry with it some of the toxins. perhaps do a binder and a couple hours flush it out with epsom salt water ?
