Got my daughters test results back and they were very much positive. So we are dealing with that.

My son's just had one band positive: IGM P39Ab.

Does this warrant extra testing with Igenex? We had his tests done with LabCorp and he is not a little boy. I just don't know if this is a good definitive test as a negative or not.

Thank you guys in advance!

My Labcorp test only had 2 bands show up. My Igenex test a week later had 4 bands show up. I believe this is due to the strains they test for.

I think Labcorp only tests serum against strain B31. I have read that Igenex tests against 4 distinct strains.

I would not trust my son's life to a Labcorp test.

If your son is showing symtoms after tick bite, I wouldn't waste any time with testing and just try to start treating right away.

If he is asymptomatic, I would not pursue it any further... This is the boat I am in. My son had tick attachments from the same field that I got my bad tick bite. He doesn't show symptoms that scream "TBD" all the time. Occasionally (one day out of a month or so) he seems tired, or says he has twitching, but it seems to pass.

I wonder all the time if I should get him tested.

I watch him super close. If his symptoms start ramping up, it's straight to the LLMD.

Take into consideration that IgeneX tests for two more Lyme-specific bands, 31 and 34, than LabCorp and Quest do. Since he has one Lyme-specific band from Labcorp, you may want to test through IgeneX.

momof8, is your son having symptoms? You can continue with Lyme testing or you can save that money and use it for treatment.

Lyme & co really is a clinical diagnosis. Band 39 is specific to Lyme Borrelia.
