Has anyone had an Advanced Labs culture test for borrelia lately? The web site, www.advanced-lab.com, gives an error message now. I also noticed that their clinical trial was terminated for lack of funding - https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/study/NCT02741609. I hope they didn't go out of business.

I believe the clinical trial ended/closed January 2018.

I just watched the talk with Dr. B that Tincup posted. If I'm not mistaken, I think that Dr. B said that the culture has been bought out by Igenex and they are working on getting everything in order to start being able to use it.

I could be wrong about it being Advanced Labs but I literally just watched it and do believe that's right.

Thanks for the info. That would be fantastic if Igenex takes over Advanced Labs culturing process! Culturing should be the go-to test for borrelia and hopefully Igenex can help make it the gold standard.

If anyone has further information on IgeneX's possible purchase of their methodology for culture, please post it.

I had an Advanced culture done years ago and it came up positive, but as I recall it took quite a long time. I may not be remembering the time frame correctly, but nothing showed up the entire first culture period (3 weeks?) but it didn't grow until into the extended culture time (6+ weeks?).

I can only hope that if IgeneX is going to use and hopefully continue to improve/verify this culture method, they have all of Advanced data to build upon and be sure to not use too short culture parameters.

I may give IgeneX a call for information and since I'm going to repeat some of my other bloodwork with them since it has been several years, it would be nice to see if they could run the culture as well. I'll report back if there is anything noteworthy.
