Hello all,

I haven't posted in a long time, as after many years of antibiotics and naturals I was feeling mostly symptom free.

However, I recently began experiencing episodes of short arrythmmias triggered by eating, digestion, and leaning over or body movements. I had to go to the emergency room right before Christmas as I went into SVT after cleaning off my dining table (sudden movement) and couldn't get back into normal rhythm without calling an ambulance and getting two shots of Adenosine.

I only had one previous episode like this in 2009 and have only been experience shorts runs of PVC's etc.. since then, no real SVT, but lately it's been acting up.

I have an appointment at the cardiologist in 10 days - my heart has always checked out fine, but I'm curious if any of you have SVT and Lyme.

Was it triggered by Lyme?
Did Lyme treatment cure your SVT?
What vagal maneuvers do find you find best to convert?
What meds keep SVT away?

I went into another episode of SVT today after lunch and was feeling stressed before a business call, so my heart was already beating fast with adrenaline. Then I swallowed a vitamin to help calm me down (L-Glutathione) and went into SVT while swallowing. Luckily blowing in a straw and raising my legs worked after a few tries. Always very scary.

I may have to bite the bullet and get an ablation, but if this is curable with more Lyme treatment or some other way, I am open to everyone's thoughts. I just started trace minerals and already eat a healthy diet. Trying to stay away from carbs, sugar and caffeine.

If you have SVT please respond. Thank you!

Please call the cardiologist's and explain your situation. Ask if you can be seen sooner---or if they have a cancellation.

Yes, Lyme certainly can cause all kinds of cardiac symptoms! But you will need to be tested and treated for the tacchycardia.

If I were you, I would also strongly consider going back into treatment again. Of course, I don't know the answer for you on that one; everyone is different.

There is a book, "Gone in a Heartbeat," (no he didn't die) by Dr. Neil Spector, a well-known doctor who had severe cardiac problems for years that turned out to be caused by Lyme. It's on Amazon.

Of course, he was pooh-poohed for years by doctors, "Oh, you're stressed," in spite of being a doctor.

I have had SVT also off and on for three years and am on lyme treatment. Cardiologist said there is nothing wrong with my heart must be neurological. Had positive tilt table test. Holter monitors etc. All I have found is that if I go off doxycycline for more than a couple of days it is back. I have been to many docs including llmd without much luck. Hope you find something that works

Do you take anything for your SVT or just manage with vagal maneuver when it comes on?

Thank you!

Hi I was prescribed Sotolol. I am not taking it because my usual resting heart beat is in the high 50s low 60s. I do use vagal maneuvers. Lucky for me if I stay on the Doxycline it keeps the cardiac symptoms at bay. I don’t know what I will do when insurance stops paying for medication. I hope you get some help. I even went to Stanford carduiologist with no good advice.

Went to the cardiologist and had an echo (normal) and holter monitor (normal except for some PVC's and PAC's).

Dr. told me to try 10MG Propanolol 2x daily. Can't take anything stronger because my resting pulse is low. I have a very strong reaction to anything that causes anxiety since I contracted Lyme - social situations, dr visits etc...so Propanolol my work for me.

Don't get SVT enough to warrant an ablation, but maybe it will get better with more Lyme Treatment. My remaining symptoms are primarily anxiety, some insomnia, mild twitching that comes and goes, mild incontinence (vagal?), occasional skipped heartbeats and SVT (vagal?) some mild stomach problems. Cognitive and energy are very good.

I had PSVT often in my sleep for 12 yrs. before it was diagnosed. It was very frequent and severe, with awful dysautonomia sx along with it, including goose bumps, purple feet, and complete, involuntary emptying of the bowel. Every attack lasted exactly 1 1/2 hrs.

I was put on Inderal but it stopped working after 7 yrs. so was put on Verapamil 240 mgs. ER, and am still on it a decade later..

Still need 40 mg. verapamil rescue tabs a couple nights a week and must avoid overstimulation, stairs, stress, noise, etc. Dreams in which I exert myself cause waking up with attacks.

Too severe to go off med to have ablation. During attacks BP would go upwards of 240/116. W/o verapamil I would be dead.

Side-effects of the verapamil are very swollen ankles and my insect sting allergy now requires an ambulance due to anaphylaxis, so I no longer garden or wear sandals.

Now have presyncope if I stand too long, atrial fib on and off.

Myco,

Propranolol has been my Godsend the last decade. Also, Mestinon has been a necessity the last 3 years.

My symptoms began as you describe, and I ended up in a similar boat as klutzo above.

The cardiac symptoms can be a real bane, and coupled with the additional autonomic GI symptoms, life is a real peach. Be sure to have a current tilt-table test done, as well as a skin punch biopsy to check for small fiber polyneuropathy.

I hope that you find some relief soon.

Best,
Told you...

Thanks for the reply!

Did your heart symptoms get better with Lyme treatment?

Do you think the SVT was caused by Lyme or hereditary?

I am torn as to whether I need more Lyme treatment as my symptoms are mainly vagal/heart, anxiety, some insomnia and incontinence at this point and I have normal energy and no brain fog.

Thanks again.

I haven't ever had much luck with vagal maneuvers. BUT have you considered heavy metals.

I am in the process of chelating mercury and lead and find there is a definite link to the heart issues.

My cardiologist is clueless on this although there are many many studies that verify the connection.

My experience with cardiologists and other doctors is most the time there is no effort to find the underlying cause.
