Do you recommend anything to help a sore throat caused by yeast?

I'm already on Diflucan, Nystatin, Probiotics, and a Grapefruit Seed Extract supplement to treat yeast.

I had a terribly sore throat for a full 20 years. See if you have "Red Crescents" on the sides of your back mouth . . . not necessarily back in the throat.

A minor distinction, I think, but when I would tell doctors about my sore throat, they'd look and say, "looks fine" - to my astonishment though I had not yet caught onto their rule of dismissal of my as a very person in pain.

So, if you have "red crescents" - or not - the pain could be not just yeast related at all. Like all kinds of other infections as well as possible food or environmental reactions and a taxed immune system.

The Herb ANGROGRAPHIS seemed to really help my throat region feel better. Andrographis covers a broad spectrum of pathogens and helps immune function, too.

You may already be: Gluten-Free; Dairy Free (not just because of lactose but also the casein in it) . . . Soy & Corn Free . . . "vegetable oil" free in processed oils such as canola and the like.

Oxalates in some vegetables such as spinach and many types of kales could also be involved as might

lectins in grains and beans. Grains and bean can cause inflammation.

Organic Raw Coconut oil may help. Olive oil can be good in the diet but not alone as it can really burn the throat for some time after contact if alone (be certain of where your EVOO comes from as many are not pure).

My files are a mess and I have to hunt to find where I put these.

I'll be back with links for Andrographis, OLE, and Berberine. My top three suggestions of which to choose.

In the meantime, www.vitacost.com & likely www.iherb.com com have some options.

I use the Planetary Herbals Andrographis. I am scouting for a new Berberine at Vitacost . . . and SEAGATE Olive Leaf Extract brand stands out.

Avoid all commercial mouthwashes, toothpastes, etc. as most have very irritation chemicals in them.

SLS - sodium laurel sulfate, especially should be avoided.

Scents? Go for unscented body / hair / household cleaners

this can really help the throat.

Toothpaste: the only one of dozens I've tried: I find Redmond Lemon Twist a gentle yet effective toothpaste (at Vitacost)

& Herb Pharm makes some very good Oral Health / Gum tinctures - about 1/3 dropper in 1/3 cup water for a gargle.

Even if gluten-free, etc. avoid ALL CRUNCHY foods for they can really scrap the back of the throat for those of us who have history of soreness and tenderness. If you "do" nut butters, avoid peanuts and go for smooth RAW nut butters, not roasted (roasted nuts' oil can become toxic soon after being heated).

And, of course, be sure to see all of the books written by Stephen H. Buhner, a master herbalist who has the best detail about so much. You might also see his website and search terms there to find blog posts where he has answered questions.

One more note, in my experience, I was able to stop Diflucan and Nystantin (which did nothing for me at all but made me feel worse, and Diflucan was hard on my liver)

I also hated the harshness of GSE - whether capsule or especially the drops to put in water. so very harsh and I was able to say goodbye to GSE, too, thankfully.

anyway, at that time I was on antibiotics and before I started that round, I started OLE and kept up at highest dose all through the 2- month period (all the doctor would do at that time)

I developed no problem - none - regarding candida overgrowth.

So, even if you were not able to start OLE or other similar herb prior to whatever thing might have put you over the edge with candida, after a while (and since you see no real relief anyway)

you might be able to ditch both Diflucan and Nystantin as each of the herbs I suggest in the choice list cover all the bases with support against some of the "garden variety" fungi, viruses & bacteria & offer immune support.

Of course, I assume you consume no sugars or sugar alcohols (Google all the names "sugar" flies under).

Artificial sweeteners can also be problematic to the immune system & body /gut chemistry & kill off good bacteria.

Sugar "alcohols" can really feed yeast, too.

Even "natural" stevia seems to have some questions. I have some links for that but will hold back. If you need something sweet, just try to keep the purest stevia to very little.

Strep?

You should be tested for strep, though. That is important. You might need Rx treatment if strep, supported by key herbs.

I'm assuming you don't have a LLMD to ask these questions . . . yet that would be best, of course.

Many who have successfully treated lyme / coinfections have reported years of sore throats as well and had them disappear after tick-borne or other chronic stealth infections were treated.

And I know I seem to "ask a lot" in my suggestions. It's just that it took all of these actions (and more) for my sore throat to disappear.

One downfall I have regarding sinuses / throat, though, is dust. I just can't manage vacuuming as much as I should. Hope you can or or have someone to do that at least weekly.

Banish all things "fluffy" even bath mats (a cork bath mat is best). Fluffy stuff, even corduroy fabrics harbor all kinds of bad stuff.

And the tiny fibers get loose and can wind up in your nose, throat, lungs and then the body has to mount an immune attack.

Also be sure to avoid using any personal care powders or sprays - an there is no nail polish that is safe (IMO).

All this matters.

Good luck.

Did you have a culture test that showed candida?

I was having chronic vaginal yeast infections. I was always treating for albicans. Culture showed that it was candida glabrata which is "azole" resistant.

Glabrata is a beast to get rid of.

Yeast will cause acid reflux, which may come up into your throat at night and irritate it. I always get a sore throat from acid refluz when I have a yeast flare.

I would suspect the GSE myself. Causes acid reflux for me.
