Whether or not an "auto-immune" disorder is on board, whether or not one takes a "biologic" likely someone you know does. This article is really important, in - oh - so many ways.

Of course, I wish they might have mentioned that lyme and other chronic stealth infections can cause "auto immune" issues, often including arthritis & skin issues, even misdiagnosed MS . . .

Other factors can also be the actual cause - whether offending agents in one's environment, or oxalate toxicity & or lectins or other plant toxins in the diet, etc.

and that, often, when the actual underlying cause has been identified, treated / managed . . . sometimes a person's "autoimmune" issue(s) resolve.

The sense I get from the patient interviews here is that all think they have no other choice than to take a biologic classification of Rx. I wish they knew that lyme is just one thing that should be fully assessed first.

Still, this report is excellent for shining light on the often harrowing side-effects and unexpected outcomes. Yet, some patients still think there is no other choice. Sigh.

Focus: BIOLOGICS for "autoimmune" disorders

A drug's most dangerous side effects often aren't discovered until it's on the market

- Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - July 18,2019

[Extensive article at link above]

. . . [Companion report: An earlier Milwaukee Journal Sentinel analysis of FDA data (May 30, 2019) here:

https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/investigations/2019/05/30/arthritis-psoriasis-drugs-darker-aspect-34-000-reports-deaths/1206103001/

found reports linking biologic drugs to more than 500,000 serious side effects since 2004, including more than 34,000 deaths. ]

BIOLOGICS (often prescribed for various "autoimmune" issues - which are often not autoimmune for those with ignored lyme / other TBD (tick borne disease)

well, BIOLOGICS can also have devastating effects for those with lyme, other TBD or other chronic stealth infections - due to their immune system suppression, etc.
