for chronic lyme, I was put on cefdinir and azithromycin, and within 3 days developed tinnitus. I would be concerned about ototoxicity as I had an issue with that with another abx years ago.
they said numerous patients have seen tinnitus but due to the abx affecting the lyme, but I wonder how you can tell whether its a warning of hearing damage vs a sign of the lyme pathogen.
I have been on doxy twice in the past when I already almost certainly had this chronic lyme and had no tinnitus.
per the office, I've temporarily stopped the abx but they said ok to try just the cefdinir and see if the tinnitus reduces, then switch to that and doxy.
any advice appreciated!

I tend to agree its the med and dropped the Azithro (with concurrence from my Dr offc). We'll see if the ears settle down on just cefdinir. I HOPE they do. Right now they are ringing. Potential hearing loss is no joke.

Be aware that integrative doctors can have various levels of formal herbal &/or nutritional education, perhapstraining. You want someone with a deep knowledge. even just a short course. Do ask first. Some have learned on their own from experts in the field. There are many ways to acquire knowledge and most are eager to share basic details about their Some of the specialities above may not actually treat lyme yet, for things such as physical adjustments, it is just good that they are also LL, at least to some degree (to know never to suddenly twist the neck or spine).
Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:
Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures from all corners of medicine;
knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.
You can compare and contrast many approaches. -

We thought my daughter would never recover from tinnitus after taking Zithromax. I'm on it now but only very reluctantly. I am hyper aware of any ear symptoms. Good luck and best wishes.
