I'm having success taking the mangosteen hull powder we posted about as an antihistamine, antioxidant, and painkiller. It took about four or five days to start working. I was actually able to sleep most of the night last night without having to take something to knock me out.
The mangosteen has two quirks. The first is that it needs to be taken with fat for the full range of its Xanthone antioxidants to be absorbed. The second is that it lowers my cholesterol more than it needs to be lowered for my body to have enough to use as the raw material to make hormones.
Do you know how much fat I need to take it with -- teaspoon, tbsp., what?
Do you know any way to get around the cholesterol-lowering effect?
Any input would be appreciated.

I've never taken mangosteen in powder form - I've always taken it as a drink for several years now for its anti-inflammatory effects. I drink around an ounce a day.
I have no knowledge of it needing to be taken with fat nor any knowledge of it lowering cholesterol.
How do you know it needs to be taken with fat, and how do you know it lowers cholesterol?

The internet is how I know. There's some controversy about whether it needs to be taken with fat, but it's ability to lower cholesterol is an established fact documented by an assortment of medical studies.

If you're asking me, I get the Mango-Xan juice blend version at my health food store. I looked online just now and I see that you can get it through eVitamins.com - looks pretty easy to do.
Also the maker of the juice is in Utah, company is Pure Fruit Technologies. Owner is Mike, very easy to chat with, so I'm thinking he might be able to discuss the questions you're asking, GVS.
