I had an appt with my LLMD and I am so confused!! My #1 symptom is off balance when I walk, it has destroyed my life for 3 yrs and at every appt with him we discuss it is not improving and I was confused if it was a Babesia or Bart symptom and asked him previously but dont think he ever really answered me.
I have been treating bart for over 9 mo and balance not improving. I was just changed to Rifampin last Month from Bactrim.
So when I asked him again yesterday if the balance is related to Babesia he said yes and I was so confused!!! So now I am on Azithromycin, Malerone and Bactrim DS and I pray it improves my balance. I also have slurred speech and dont know what caused that.

Thank you I seem to feel more comfortable with answers from those who have Lyme rather than treat it which is sad to say.

For me the balance issues and vertigo were Lyme. It was one of my first symptoms and very scary when you don't know what's going on. I went all the way to Cleveland Clinic to a Neuro Vertigo specialist who said I have vertigo, ugh.
I got a LLMD and it went away with antibiotic treatment in month 3.
One year later the dizziness, holding onto walls and vertigo came back but with sweats so I attribute that relapse with Babesia. All was fine after 4 months of Mepron, malarone and azith.
Alas it's back (with sweats) so I'm back in treatment. I attribute this relapse due to termination of my IVIG due to co-pay issues. I have CVID and am on pins and needles with the corona virus.

why hasn't he tried coartem for Babesia? I am going to start pulsing it six days every three weeks. I have the exact samething. Terrible.

I do not know and I am not familiar with that ABX. I have tried to keep it a day at a time but the days seem to be really long!!!

I feel for you., I really do. I have had the exact same symptom for three years and nothing has helped. Maybe you can mentioned this drug to see if he would try it. Prayers sent your way.

Yes, tick-bourne diseases can cause balance issues. The inner ear controlls balance, so see an Ear Nose Throat Specialist and ask for a script for Vestibular Rehab. It is really helpful for regaining balance.

For my hubby the tipsy feeling was from Babesia. It got much better after treating for awhile.

Can u tell us what he used to treat Babesia. I was positive for that also and have terrible anxiety and dizziness. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's another possibility to check out. I get dizzy when my cervical vertebrae are out of place, especially the top one, the atlas. You could go see a really experienced chiropractor who could check that out. When my chiropractor puts it back in place, the dizziness goes down immediately.
I think the slurred speech is due to brain inflammation from the Lyme. Meaning treatment that's right for you could stop it.

He used artemisinin to treat babesia. The babesia would flare up over the weekend and he followed someone else's advice on here.
They took artemisinin on the 3 days they flared. Fri, Sat & Sun. (I forget who it was) Anyway, after he did that it really seemed to help clear the babesia symptoms.
We also have Byron White's A BAB drops. I don't remember if he took it at the same time or it the A-BAB was later on. Probably later, as he is quite sensitive to lots of stuff.
