Hi,

Could anyone provide me the name of a doctor in Florida or Atlanta who truly believes in aggressive, long-term ABX treatment?

I have late-stage Lyme, Western Blot positive a year ago after 12 years misdiagnosed with auto-immune disorders. I'm mostly bedridden.

I've had a PICC line in for 3 months (Rocephin) with slow improvement and no complications, but my current doctor believes that 3 months is the limit. I know that's not true, based on Stricker's published study, and based on the experience so many of you have related on this board.

Please help!

Thank you.

Hey Evin,

Welcome to LymeNet!

So sorry to hear you've been so sick for what must feel like an eternity. I am glad to hear you are slowly improving on IV Rocephin, but like you, I'm concerned that there is an artificial time limit set for it. Such a shame.

I can't tell you each doctor's protocols, and if I tried, like in the past, they'd change quicker than ice melts in FL in July.

BUT... you can check the individual places out for yourself, which is the best way to do it anyhow. Right out of the gator's mouth!

If you go to www.FloridaLyme.org you can get a list of names and contact info for Lyme treating health care professionals in all states that have them. Florida and Georgia both have listings.

Just look for the DOCTORAL REFERRAL section on the menu to your left.

And yes, the site doesn't look like a typical Lyme site, but I was so sick and tired of talking ticks and looking at ticks by the time I got around to making a website for Florida that to keep my sanity I had to say- NO TICKS ALLOWED HERE!

[lol]

Hopefully the lighter theme there will not be as depressing as some other sites can be. Makes ME happy at least!

I also put together a list of various tick and vector borne diseases found in Florida. Don't know if that is where you were exposed, but it may be of interest since you are in Florida now. (Scroll down the page some to see the list.)

If there is anything else you need, don't hesitate to ask.

Go Gators!
