looking for a LLMD in PA, NJ, DE, MD area - my husband developed an erythema migran several weeks ago. He started to take doxy, 200 mg/day, right away - and is still taking it. The EM is better but not completely gone - no other symptoms. I'm worried he might have co-infection, or that he's not on the right med. Any LLMDs in the area that take insurance?

None that I know of. But, I know a good lyme doc who will test him properly (for all coinfections) and treat him properly so that this will come to an end and not come back to bite him in the future.
This doc has virtually no wait for a new patient to get in--which is RARE. He is in Maryland.
Your husband is NOT on good lyme treatment right now.

As it says in this document "Undertreated infections will inevitably resurface, usually as chronic Lyme, with its tremendous problems of morbidity and difficulty with diagnosis and treatment and high cost in every sense of the word." (p. 3)
Here is the entire paragraph:
"In general, you can think of LB as having three categories: acute, early disseminated, and chronic. The sooner treatment is begun after the start of the infection, the higher the success rate. However, since it is easiest to cure early disease, this category of LB must be taken VERY seriously. Undertreated infections will inevitably resurface, usually as chronic Lyme, with its tremendous problems of morbidity and difficulty with diagnosis and treatment and high cost in every sense of the word. So, while the bulk of this document focuses of the more problematic chronic patient, strong emphasis is also placed on earlier stages of this illness where closest attention and care must be made."
So, if there is any way possible, you must get him to a lyme specialist (a doctor who specializes in treating lyme disease--whose practice is 100% lyme or at least the majority of the practice is lyme). It is RARE for a lyme specialist to take insurance because insurance will not reimburse the doc for the time needed to treat a lyme patient.
This disease is DIFFICULT to cure! Don't mess around. Now is the time to get correct treatment and get rid of it. Otherwise, it could be a life-long, disabling problem.
Hang around here and read what some people are suffering. Then, you will realize how serious this is.
Let me know if you want the doc's name. Expect to spend hundreds on the first appointment. But, in this case, it is worth every penny.
You can contact lyme support groups in your area to see if they know of anyone who takes insurance AND who knows enough to get people well. See Support Groups on the left side of the page.
But, I have been in the lyme world for about 15 years and I know about the docs in Pa and surrounding states. I think you should go with the doc I recommend.
I tried various doctors who treated lyme and spent over 2 years with them, making only a little progress. Then, I studied Burrascano's Guidelines and traveled to hear him speak. It was obvious to me that this doc knew a whole lot more about this disease than anyone I was seeing.
Then, I switched to a lyme specialist who followed Burrascano and I got rid of my diseases (lyme, babesiosis and bartonella).
That was over 12 1/2 years ago now and I am still symptom free, enjoying my life. I have seen the Burrascano protocol work in 5 of my friends also. So, that is why I believe in the Burrascano protocol.
When Burrascano was practicing, he was the most successful lyme doctor in the world and they came from every country to be treated by him.

Thanks for your reply. I have had chronic lyme for 25 years so I know the consequences of not treating it properly. Please give me the name of the doctor in MD, but I'm not sure that my husband will travel that far so if you have the name of a LLMD closer to the Philadelphia area, that would be great. Thanks
