I only just recently learned about what Lyme disease actually is and I am beginning to suspect I may have it.

I would like to talk to a doctor to determine if I do have it or not. I am located in Georgia.

The biggest symptom for me is the chronic fatigue and migraines/headaches. Overwhelming weakness in just about any activity.

I get occasional heart palpitations when I am laying down. Another doctor put an EKG monitor on me for 24hrs and determined it wasn't frequent enough to be of concern. (Less than 1% of the time).

I am starting to notice some memory issues that I am concerned will get worse.

I have been seeking treatment for these things for several years now but have had minimal improvement. The chronic fatigue is the most debilitating symptom.

I hope you can help me find a doctor who can provide a diagnosis (or at least rule out Lyme).

Welcome to Lymenet! PM sent for FL.

I am so sorry you are going through this. It is very important you be your own health care advocate.

You need to be evaluated and treated by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

Here is a link for them:

http://www.lymenet.org/BurrGuide200810.pdf

Unfortunately, LLMDs are far and few between. You need to go where they are. I don't know of any in GA.

Also most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=025539;p=0

Check the online state Lyme groups at:
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/GeorgiaLyme/info

Maybe they can help. They would know better about Georgia.

Some more resources (including Support Groups):
http://whatislyme.com/lyme-in-georgia/

http://www.lymenet.org/SupportGroups/UnitedStates/Georgia/

Read the books written by the top LLMD, Dr. H, titled, "Why Can't I Get Better?" and "How Can I Get Better?". They are an excellent source of information.

Also read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub. View "Under Our Skin" and "Under Our Skin2: Emergence" DVDs. Check your local library or buy them used online.

Welcome to Lymenet Anonymouse

We can help you.
You must become your own healthcare advocate. Research everything you can about Tick and Vector Borne Diseases.

Here is a symptom list;

https://sites.google.com/view/symptoms-of-lyme/symptom-lists/dr-burrascanos-symptom-list

Also, you can take the MSIDS test developed by one of the world's top LLMD (Lyme Litterate Medical Doctor) ;

http://www.lymeactionnetwork.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/MSIDS.pdf

Most LLMD'S don't participate in insurances and your intial visit (sometimes up to 3 hours long) will be expensive so you need to get your finances in order. Specialized testing is usually ordered.

Start a folder and include all things medical in it, all previous blood work results, all providers you have seen, diagnosises, tests performed, medicine list, symptom list. Take this with you to your LLMD visit.

As you may have experienced, mainstream doctors have FAILED us. They are not properly trained in Vector borne diseases and many don't want to learn.

Lymenet
is a community of Lyme sufferers and care-takers who volunteerly share our experiences with treatments, symptoms, doctors, all things Lyme. Feel free to post any questions or utilize the 'search' function for answers. We are open 24 hours a day, we never close.

You can request a LLMD through Global Lyme Alliance here;

https://globallymealliance.org/education-awareness/find-medical-professional/

I will send you a private message.
Healing wishes.
