I am not even sure if I need a LLMD at this point or not. I found a tick in my chest at the end of November. My husband removed it with tweezers but not the proper way. I think it took quite a few pulls to get it all out. The area was red for a few days but I thought that was due to the trama of the tweezers pulling my skin. It did go away on it's own. Then about 1.5 weeks ago I had a painful elbow after doing pushups. The following day the elbow was fine but my left wrist was painful. The next day they were both fine. Then, about 5 days ago, I had a pain in my left leg between the knee & hip. I think it's in the muscle as it feels like a charley horse. I'm on ammoxicillin 500 mgs 3/day. The pain in my leg comes & goes but I do think it's starting to be less severe as of today. I've been on the antibiotics for 4 days. Do you think I caught it soon enough and am still considered "early stage" so that the antibiotic might kill it? I'm on it for a month. Thank you so much for your time and the info.

Sure sounds like lyme.

Even if this is lyme, addressed early, you may need minimum of six months of combination medicines.

A one-month course of one antibiotic is rarely enough.

Within minutes of taking an antibiotic that targets the borrelia spirochete, it gets stressed and goes into the cyst form. Antibiotics do not work for the cyst form. Flagyl (or a sister drug) must be used, as well as methods to address biofilm.

Yes, you need to see a LLMD as soon as possible. You also need to be evaluated for other tick borne infections. Lyme rarely travels alone.

The good part is still that you are addressing this early on. Still, the expertise of an ILADS-educated LLMD is vital.

I hope your doctor also told you to take PROBIOTICS - away from the abx (antibiotic)

and that some kind of LIVER SUPPORT has been explained to you. Milk Thistle is most common. Take away from both probiobics and abx.

A good quality of Magnesium (to lessen the muscle pain) and Fish Oil (such as OmegaBrite) are also usually necessary.

Good luck.
