After 10 + (?) years it seems I am pretty sure to have the dreaded LD again. Started with waking from extreme shoulder pain after a rigorous Yoga session. That led to a fever that lasted 5 days. Tested for Covid 5 times. Two doctors visits & many OK tests- Finally fever free for two days & then a huge bullseye on my hip. Took an non-embedded tick off over 2 weeks ago. Thought I was good-Yikes!

Not sure of the latest reccs? Years ago I took Doxy for 2 months. This time they recommended 1 month?

Oh, Lymetoo- both happy & sad that you are still here! Always appreciated your wisdom. Way back I did 2 months & then had no issues, thankfully!!

I am still trying to teach the locals! Gave my PCP the "bible" years ago & pretty sure I definitely woke up the NP I've seen twice last week due to fever.

Oh, Susie, I hope you get the help you need.
Maybe take the one month doxy if that is all you can get now. Maybe it is best not to argue or insist on more at first.
Then go back with documented evidence that longer treatment is needed.

What do you think about this message I just received from my doctor? "It usually takes about 1 to 2 weeks to get the rash after a tick bite. The tick has to be on for about 36 hours to transmit the disease. You can certainly get a fever and myalgias from the initial infection. Just the IGM antibody was elevated, the IgG was negative which was goes along with an acute infection. It can take up to 4 weeks to develop a antibody response. The usual treatment now is about 10 days of doxycycline 100 mg twice a day."

Your doctor is taking an IDSA (Infectious Diseases Society of America) approach with their flawed guidelines for the treatment of acute Lyme disease.
Where as the ILADS ( International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society) recommends a longer course of antibiotics plus additional rounds of antibiotics based on symptoms.
“ There simply is no "one size fits all" treatment protocol for patients infected with Lyme disease and/or co-infections. This is why it's critical for physicians treating Lyme disease to invest time with patients to thoroughly understand their medical history and to closely monitor symptoms and treatment response to determine the best therapy to restore the patient's health.”

OMG! So torn! Reallized it's been 19 years since my last rodeo ( and that was an awful challenge!-still teaching back then). My husband did OK W/ 10 days 2 years ago after having a huge rash on his chest. Been trying to read everything I can to stay current. Thinking I'll try 10-12 days since I obviously caught it early & go from there?

We understand your desire to take the minimal amount of antibiotics. But if you don’t eliminate the infection quickly and throughly, you will become a chronic Lyme Disease sufferer.
Advanced Topics In Lyme Disease by Dr Joseph Burrascano (considered the gold standard in the Lyme community)
Page 19. Early Stages 6 weeks minimum of antibiotic treatment.
IMO, 10 - 12 days of treatment is not enough considering the health consequences. A visit to an Urgent Care would buy you extra treatment. TeliDoc would buy you extra treatment. Best bet is to seek a LLMD and be treated under medical supervision and be done with it.

Check out EM. If people knew that energy could get rid of lyme, specifically EM (eminusmirus), every single lyme patient would be doing it. It takes an open mind.
