For those who were in remission or off treatment. At what point did you decide to retreat?

If you are asking this question, it seems logical that now is the time you would want to get a fresh assessment from a LLMD or LL ND.

I do not put much faith in testing - at least not before talking to a top LL doctor who has experience and keeps VERY up to date.

First, if re-treatment might be needed, it might take a totally different form in light of new findings in you - or in the research as such that is presented at ILADS conferences, etc.

If needed, re-treatment might also address either for the first time or with new methods:

coinfections that might have slipped under the radar from previous treatment time.

A LL ND would also likely have some suggestions for nutrients that might be missing or others that may offer relief.

It may not be lyme popping back up again but I think only a LL doctor would be able to fully assess if you already know your nutrient intake is top notch.

As you wait for an assessment, you can go over diet and other things in case you find some things of relevance to change.

For instance, as you reached remission earlier, if you added back in gluten, corn, dairy or sugar . . . or any additives or processed foods -- each of those can drag down remission success. As can alcohol.

Still, it might take several weeks or even months if you make any changes to see any new little light bulbs go off to pinpoint a key variable

so I'd schedule an appointment and if you get way better by the time that appt. date nears, you can then choose to cancel it.

For me, it was when I got all the early symptoms back - probably from being bitten again - though I didn't see a tick.

For a lot of people I know, they just felt lousy again and knew it was time.

I was good for about a year after aggressive antibiotic and herbal therapy.

My nerve pain is out of control. I had a minor distraction treating mold exposure,

I am opting out of antibiotics though. Just got my first shipment of bees in. Going to do bee venom Lyme protocol.

I did justvtest positive for bartonella and babesiosis and ehrlichia, all things I’ve slready aggressively treated.

I do have an RX for minocycline but I’m done with antibiotics. They aren’t working for me. And I’m tired of bouncing between doctors who tell me I need a different antibiotic or didn’t do this or that long enough.

They all claim they get their patients well with their protocols but they are just bouncing us around. I know so many people.

Blessed are those who went through treatment with an LLMD and have gotten better. I think my immune system is not so lucky.

You mean to retreat lyme or just to any treatment for prevention?

I retreat lyme when I feel it is coming back or after a fresh infected tick bite.

It did not happen in the last 5 years or so, despite many tick bites... I still treat the bite, though.

But I am treating my body (immune system and gut, basically) so that I don't fall so ill again.

I just made the decision to retreat- with the best I can afford now as before (years ago) I couldn't afford anything. I

I was feeling much better- about maybe 60-70% normal me and then bloop it started going wierd on me again. so now I think it's time to hit the big guns. I think it would be different for each person. for me it is lots of neurological sx either not improving, or getting worse, + a few chronic sx that never went away fully,

or I might say- never healed all the way? Plus I didn't *feel* lyme-y again until now. for fererrence: I was feeling a steady increase in health for about a year or more after a few years of near death, and now at this point

One should never quit treating themselves. Even into remission you still focus on giving and doing the right things to keep your immune system strong.

We are all, most likely going to get exposed again.

And just to be clear, I'm not speaking of abx treatment either.
