Welcome to the exercise thread. [woohoo]

Here we encourage each other to get up and move.

So whether you are walking, shopping for turkey, shoveling turkey into your face, cleaning, raking etc., let us know about your exercise.

Or just tell us about your day!

Have a blessed week! [hi]

Watched my church’s service online this morning.

Called the maintenance man at mom’s retirement center. Different guy today. He immediately went to mom’s apartment, figured out the cord from the phone base of the cordless phone to the wall was bad and replaced it. He also replaced the old landline in the office with a brand new one. And then he called me to explain what he had done. Such a nice guy.

I wrote a email to the director of maintenance and the CEO of the retirement center praising him. The guy yesterday just said mom needed new phones and that didn’t make any sense.

Did a load of laundry.

Did my knee, feet, and shoulder exercises.

Went to the library.

Did a little cooking and froze some meals.

Called mom to tell her my brother and I are coming tomorrow.

Leftovers for dinner and then maybe another Hallmark chick flick.

Going to bed early as I want to get an early start tomorrow to drive over to mom’s. My brother, his wife, and I will be doing some more clean out, grocery shopping etc. looking forward to seeing my brother.

Thanks Hiker for getting us motivated for the week.

I've been gabbing on the phone and later went through a couple of my Mom's dresser drawers. Found a lot of silver half dollars and some old bills with different colored seals so spent time googling if they were of value.

Skipped breakfast but had 2 cups of coffee and skipped lunch. Ended up with bad heartburn around 4:00 so took 4 pepto tablets and later ate leftover stir fry and brown rice. Also had a few cashews and another red bean confectionery and mint tea with stevia.

Taking Benadryl too so I'm pretty groggy when I take my night time meds of doxepin and Triazolam
Tomorrow I'm visiting my friend with long covid around 1:00. Hoping to get some shopping done beforehand.

Watched another comic book based movie, Morbius, which was good. Other than that I was a couch potato.

I did get the china, silverware and crystal glasses ready for T day. I'm using my Mom's first set of China she bought and real silverwear. Set the table with my Thanksgiving linens that I haven't seen since 2015. I'm excited and sad at the same time.

Wow that medicine is kicking my butt and I can't keep my eyes open!

Night friends!

Just lost a long time friend. He's the one I've been on the board of directors with for the past 12-13 years. He was the founder of a foundation to help Cameroon, but his dream was to help all of Africa.

Such a great person and my husband and I are both grieving the loss.

Our friend has had brain cancer for the past two years.

Lymetoo—sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.

I got up early and drove over to my mom’s. My brother and his wife are here, too.

While mom was at Physical therapy we went through a closet and took a bunch of items to charity.

Then we measured rooms and furniture in case mom needs to move to assisted living. A lot of furniture will have to be sold or donated and we still have tons of stuff to go through.

Ordered Mexican food for dinner. I am stuffed.

Have a good evening.

TuTu I'm very sorry for the loss of your friend.

Hiker we're going out for Mexican tomorrow. Glad you're spending time with your family.

Went to the grocery store again and to Home Depot to pick up outdoor Christmas lights. Headed to the bank to take cash out of my Christmas fund and then had lunch out at a pizzeria. They had a lunch special of salad and a slice for $8.99.

My friend that I visited today wasn't feeling well so I was only there for 20 minutes. Afterwards I shopped around at Kirklands and TJ Maxx.

Since I've been home I've been a couch potato and watching TV.

See you all tomorrow!

Last night after mom went to bed I went through a bunch of boxes in the spare bedroom room closet. Packed up 5 huge trash bags to go to charity.

Did laundry for mom. Sadly one of her nice pairs of pants has a rip in the crotch area and my SIL, who is a sewer, says it cannot be repaired. Ordered a new pair of pants from LL Bean but am not hopeful for the fit. She only has 3 pairs of pants to wear now and one pair is pretty tattered.

Mom’s speech therapist came to the apartment and worked with her on what to do with scam calls because by 9:30 AM today she already had 5. She is to say hello and then hang up without saying another word.

She did fine on more scam calls this afternoon but then relapsed into talking. Sigh. I have never seen so many scam calls in my life. Over ten yesterday.

Mom has some lovely suits with skirts and blazers but she doesn’t wear skirts anymore. I had her try on a bunch of blazers but only one fit. So we took all the clothes to charity. Mom was upset and wondered why. I told her that she had just tried them on and they didn’t fit. Her reply, “Are you sure?”

I did a few knee exercises but didn’t have all my equipment to do many but got a lot of exercise walking the hallways to recycle etc.

Sadly said goodbye to my brother and SIL who are going out with friends tonight. Drove home and gassed up the car as I will go back on Thanksgiving.

Am having a burger and tossed salad for dinner and then collapsing.

Sending you a hug Hiker because I bet it wasn't easy starting to downsize things for a possible move for your Mom.

I'm up late because Josh just left. We all had a wonderful time.

Josh and I are going out for pumpkins lattes and hopefully pumpkin donuts. We've been talking about it for about 4-5 years so this is the year!

Tomorrow I'm cooking my sides of green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce and might make the Yukon gold mashed potato on Thanksgiving. Also baking the turkey and making gravy that day. Slicing some lovely Cabot horseradish cheese to go with pita crackers and olives.

My friend is bringing ham and cornbread dressing. She brought a pumpkin and pecan pie and also a chocolate and lemon cake. After 4 desserts I'm going to have to make some regular time for the gym.

I'm so grateful to have Josh and my friend over for Thanksgiving.

See you tomorrow friends!

hiker .. any chance you can convince your mother not to answer the phone at all? Does she have caller ID?

Such a difficult thing. My father in law had dementia and died of Alzheimer's about 5 years ago. He always did so well denying the callers that were same artists. I wondered how he "knew."

AK .. I'm thankful you have Josh and your friend coming over!!

Had battery issues today, but supposedly it's fine and so is the alternator which was replaced two years ago. Hope the issue STOPS happening.

Manna .. what's for dinner tomorrow??

We are going out to eat at what used to be the Raddison. We HOPE it's the same food we remember from years past. The food was always great there on Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!

Tutu—she doesn’t have caller ID and my mom doesn’t want to miss a single call as it might be me or my brother or a friend. Most calls lately are Medicare calls (mostly scam) as it is open enrollment. I did put her on the no call list, but I don’t think that helps.

I did my shoulder exercises.

Then went grocery shopping just to get some fresh produce.

Went to the post office for Christmas stamps and to mail a couple of parcels.

Did my knee and feet exercises.

Filled the thistle feeder.

After lunch I did my balance exercises.

Called mom.

Trying not to take Tylenol or Alleve so icing shoulder and knee more often.

Listened to 3 days of National Cathedral morning prayer. Got behind when I went to mom’s.

Hamburger with salad and yellow squash for dinner and the. Just reading. Am exhausted.

Yeah, I understand.

I agree that the no call list is useless.

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

Got up early and drove over to mom’s.

Had dinner with her in retirement center dining room. Typical Thanksgiving meal which I enjoyed.

Dug through more of mom’s items and found more pants. Made her try them on. Two pair fit but she struggles to get them on because they are not as stiff as her other pants. Oddly one pair of Alfred Dunnan size 10 P fit but the other of same brand and size didn’t. Kept two pairs for her to wear as every day pants. But she says she doesn’t like them. [Roll Eyes]

Took other pants and another blazer to charity box at the retirement center. Ordered a few more pairs of pants online to be mailed to me and then I will take them to her. I know she would lose the packaging and return slips plus I am the one who will have to return items and take them to be hemmed.

Got out her Christmas decorations. It is a bit early but she can’t do it herself.

Drove home and topped off the car with gas.

Just having a salad for dinner although I did not stuff myself at lunch.

My nephews arrived in time for lunch today. We had sourdough bread with butter n jelly, ham, mashed potatoes n gravy, sweet potatoes, french green beans, cranberry salad, and for dessert, pecan pie n ice cream.

Gabbed this afternoon. One of the boys helped me do chores.

One of our boys cooked supper - hot dogs n baked beans, and I had made potato salad yesterday. For dessert monster cookies.

Two of the boys are playing chess and the 3 younger ones are outside. Cousins having a good time together.

Talked with my brother on the phone awhile until he was getting a call from another brother.

Hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving Day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a blessed Thanksgiving and was very relaxing with just me, Josh and my friend.

I made turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, a small relish tray, corn on the cob and rolls.

My friend brought smoked ham, cornbread dressing and 4 desserts and Josh brought his signature mac and cheese.

After dinner we chatted and watched some TV. I still have things to clean up that can wait until tomorrow. Josh did the dishes! Yay!

See everyone tomorrow!

Manna and AK—your Thanksgiving meals sound delicious. I will be arriving soon to eat the leftovers. [Big Grin]

Did my shoulder and feet exercises this morning.

Called mom.

Wrote a few Christmas cards.

Had physical therapy for my knee this afternoon.

Filled the bird feeders.

Just ordered a gluten free pizza so will head out to pick it up.

Then reading and watching Illini basketball.

Hey gang! Glad everyone had a good Thanksgiving! Ours was fine. We went out to eat and the food and atmosphere was very nice.

We will probably go there next year too.

One little funny thing was that my pumpkin pie had one TINY dollop of cool whip on it. It was so small that it made me chuckle.

Everyone on FB got a kick out of it and so did my family in Houston. I told them this was NOT a Texas pie!! On FB I just said I was cheated and everyone agreed. LOL.

When we got back we watched a little TV and then I took a walk. The weather was amazing. About 55-60 and sunny.

Today we just vegged out all day. Didn't even go outside. It was rather cold, so I decided to take a walk tomorrow. Won't be long and I'll be back to walking on a track indoors again. (boring!)

For supper, I fixed a steak that really needed to come out of the freezer. [Smile]

See you guys tomorrow. Have a great day!

Spent 90 minutes this morning doing shoulder stretches, balance exercises and knee exercises. Physical therapist added a few new exercises and wants me to do 2 sets of most.

Did a load of laundry.

Took recycling to bins in grocery store lot

Baked salmon with a baked potato and steamed asparagus for lunch.

Watch my weekly Beth Moore video and listened to a Christian podcast.

Wrote a few more Christmas cards.

I am watching the Illini lose to Northwestern in football and kiss their bowl game hopes goodbye. I have it on mute and am reading a bit, too.

Defrosted meatloaf and will have that with salad and zucchini for dinner. Then probably read a watch a Hallmark movie.

It is supposed to snow several inches later tonight and tomorrow. And then become windy. The leaves aren’t all off my trees, yet and I have some blooms on my dianthus. Crazy.

Have a good evening!

Friday I spent the late morning and afternoon putting up outside Christmas lights and decorations then tackled decorating inside. I don't have alot of decorations inside so that didn't take to long. Going up and down the step ladder made my legs sore today.

Today me, Josh and my friend headed to a little town and shopped around the town square. Enjoyed the beautiful cooler weather (60's) and ate lunch there. I didn't buy anything but enjoyed the company and walking.

Later Josh and I ordered pizza and hung out watching a bit of TV and looking at houses on Zillow.

I've gained about 5 pounds back since Thanksgiving and will freeze almost all the leftovers tomorrow. Plan on relaxing tomorrow so will probably eat just one light meal or have a protein drink if it hasn't expired.

Hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday!
