I am sort of having a sick feeling regarding the info regarding AG Blumenthal. I felt that he was the best AG to represent the Lyme community as he had an untarnished reputation.

I am a little frightened now, does anyone else feel that this may be the final nail in the coffin for the Lyme guidelines? I was hoping and praying that he was taking his time reviewing the IDSA's decision and looking to uncover their missteps. Now, I am afraid that this character assasination will be his demise along with our only chance to get recognition on a national scale.

What a difference a year makes, last year at this time I felt so hopeful, this year, not so much.

While he's done great things for us, he's always been a little controversial politically. This news is news because he's seeking political office, but it's not really new that he has enemies or may have made missteps in the process of being a public figure and campaigning for office.

Speaking of which, isn't Senator Dodd, who he's trying to replace, one of our 'friends' in Congress, or am I mixing him up with anotehr Lyme bill sponsor?

honestly, what he says on the campaign trail has nothing to do with his authority as an attorney general to enforce the settlement provisions that the IDSA reevaluation came out of. He could theoretically have all kinds of scandal (he doesn't) but as long as he was still in office, they have to listen to him.

It's pretty unusual for the NY Slimes to either skewer a Democrat like that or put such a tabloid-esque story as their centerfold.
What is more likely is that they ran it specifically because he has tried to help us. That rag has a known anti-Lyme patient agenda.

People, he's ALWAYS been a politician first.

He doesn't personnally research the procedure of the guidelines, nor the review panel. His Staff does all the work, then he reviews.

His press release of April 22 says he (his office)are looking at it.

People in the lyme community apparently just don't beleive or trust him to follow through, thus a petition.

Either that or they don't think his office is working fast enough.

This Vietnam issue should NOT effect the office's work.

um, not everything revolves around Lyme. He's much better-known for suing Craigslist. Press coverage of his political ambitions never mentions the IDSA issue, he's much more known for other high-profile cases he's taken on.

While I know the Lyme guidelines were not the only thing on his plate, the hack job they are doing on him may be irreversible. Yes, he is a politician first, but no matter what, he is running for office. That alone is monopolizing his time/energy even without this controversy.

The Lyme community is given little respect as it is. He represented us well and now I am afraid that is lost, or at least the respect he garnered is.

Hopefully this is just an attempt from Big Pharma to keep him at arms length. It looks better today.

To hear a Vet. say Hey- He works for Us --Is a big endorsement.

I agree that this does not affect his willingness or his ability to do something for us.

He has been very courageous for the Lyme community and has been attacked for it in a lot of media. The petition basically was started so that he would know that this was an issue that the people in his state felt was important.

The other thought I had about the petition is that if we got enough signatures the newspapers might have more interest in our story. I think that the IDSA gets away with messing us over by doing it quietly in the shadows. The more coverage we get, the better.

I think he has done everything he can do for us, so don't expect much from the petitions. However, help do the petitions if you can.

This newspaper slamming is specifically to dim his chances of becoming a senator.
