I've always had to wash my hair daily. But, as you may sweat more, your hair will absorb all that. Also, lying down a lot will make hair less fresh.

I find using a lemon based, non-petroleum shampoo to keep it nice and clean, though, even if I do miss a day.

Unless hair is long, leave off the conditioner. If long, put conditioner just on the ends and comb out with wide-toothed comb while still under the shower. Use as little condtioner as possible to comb out hair.

Use no other hair "products" as they will attract more dirt and oil.

I have MCS and do fine with this as the lemon is from essential oil, not a petroleum additive:

Avalon Organics Lemon Clarifying Shampoo with Shea Butter -- 11 fl oz

Free of:

Parabens, petroleum-based ingredients, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, or other harsh preservatives or chemicals, synthetic fragrances or colors, and/or animal testing.

You can see the ingredients at the link - and they also make a good Rosemary shampoo that really helps with dandruff. Also, essential oils and no petroleum products added to that, either.

=========

It also helps to "fluff" hair while it dries. When it's nearly dry, fluff it more with your hands and that keeps it from drying to your scalp. Using a hairdryer on low when it's nearly dry will also help style it away from scalp and keep it a bit more fluffy if you are going out.

Protect your ears:

When using a hairdryer on any level - ALWAYS wear ear plugs as both lyme and antibiotics decrease the decibel level at which sound can permanently damage ears. Even with earplugs, though, it's best not to use a hairdryer on high. A lot of noise actually travels through the bones and sinus cavities.

Actually, the "high" setting on a hairdryer can also increase the oil production and lead to more frequent need to shampoo. Leaving the hairdryer in the cabinet except for special occasions will also help save fuel for you and for the world.

Toxin overload imo

When your body is overloaded with toxins they will come out the skin (oily skin), scalp (oily scalp), and tongue (white paste- sometimes candida, sometimes just poor detox symptom)

My scalp and skin are both very greasy, far more than pre-Lyme. I use clear glycerine soap and tea tree oil shampoo daily, but am greasy by bedtime every day. Not a big deal, but it is definitely noticeable.

You might want to consider a Morgellons co-infection - greasy hair is VERY common with Morgellons.

And contrary to what the hyped-up "Morgellons is a lie" sites say, not everyone with Morgellons feels a "crawling" or "biting" sensation, or reports anything about feeling like there are bugs on or in their skin.

Some good news:
1. At least for me, it seems to phase in and out. I'll have really greasy hair for a month or two, then it will calm down.

2. IMO, greasy hair is part of a herx reaction - so your body IS fighting the infection!

3. Sort of good news, if you think you might have Morgellons, is that you're doing the right thing already by treating Lyme.

Since it's believed to be a Lyme co-infection but there's no official treatment protocol yet, the few doctors who have weighed in Morgellons treatment say to treat Lyme. So does Mayo Clinic.

Hang in there and good luck. I know that especially as a woman, greasy hair is annoying and embarrassing! But it won't be like this forever [Smile]

My skin is not as oily as it used to be but my hair does look like crap if I don't wash it everyday.

I used to think it was because I was getting older, now I do think there is a direct link with all the toxins AND the meds I'm puttting in my body (just makes since that all the stuff we're putting in us would affect us some how)

It isn't as if my hair is overly oily more just "yek" limpless etc.

Actually my skin is drier than usual but I figure that may because of the winter months and more epson salt baths.

This greasy hair is just due to the oily skin you have. I too have the same issue. I also face many problems with this type of skin. The main among them are excessive hair fall and acne. I have also tried many https://healthyskincare.net/best-acne-face-wash/ which has reduced it and also making the skin less oily.

Sometimes I add a bit of baking soda to my shampoo.

Put 1/2 tsp. baking soda in my hand and then add the shampoo in my hand and mix before I wash my hair. Seems to help.

I get a sort of sticky grease when I am toxic.
