i can't take abx but i'm wondering.

if you're not on abx, do you still need all the probiotics and vitamins.

i'm only taking cat's claw and resveratrol but i do take theralac.

Maybe not as many, but much of our immune system resides in our intestinal tract, so it's a good idea to get the intestines as healthy as possible.

I think the directions on Theralac only have you taking it every few days. When I was on abx, I took it daily ..... so I'd follow the directions if not on abx.

Steve, I would read Buhner's book Healing Lyme. He talks about what herbs are good.

There are also homeopathic options.

I don't think there is that much research on probiotics.

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to take a small amount but I think there are some people out there that are over doing it with this supplement.

It can actually cause problems if you take too much.

Let's put it this way. If you continue to have yeast symptoms, you NEED probiotics.

My LLND told me that anyone with a chronic infection needs to take probiotics. Not as much of it, but still a basic amount.

I'm not taking antibiotics either, but I'm taking probiotics.

"need"?
If your GI tract is healthy, then No.
The good bacteria in the gut are self-rejuvinating.
But injesting a good mix of probiotics every once in awhile is a good idea.
Many folks in the eastern Mediterranean (sp?) drink kefir regularily & it seems to help them!

IMO you can't go wrong with taking probiotics. They can't hurt but could def. help.

S. Boulardi and Theralac are my personal favorites.

Kefir is cheaper. If money is not a problem then great, but if you are on a tight budget, you can make homemade kefir really cheap and it does the same thing.

While on antibiotics, we do kefir and an 80 billion count probiotic.

I've been on them for 6 1/2 yrs now, and off abx for the last 5 1/2. I cannot just skip the probiotics or my stomach is a wreck. Not to mention that Maintaining a healthy gastrointestinal barrier is essential for optimal immune function.
