Evening,
Went for my yearly mammaogram. The doctor asked me to come back for a second. I now have to get a biopsy due to a mass on the right breast.

Interesting enough my fiance was working today. One of his patients told him that his wife had the same issue of mass on breast. My fiance didn't mention me or the lyme. Turns out the patients wife has lyme and some doctor told her that women with lyme can experience these types of masses. Most of the time they are benign.

Well, keep me in your thoughts/ prayers monday.

Anyone else experience anything like this? [Frown]

Not exactly that, but I had a spot they were concerned about this spring. Got me pretty anxious!! Second mammogram was a better picture and all was OK!

So... praying that will be the case for you too!!

PS.. you'll have more people open this if you change the title. I'll let you come up with something!! I passed it by several times, not knowing you needed help!!

There was a thread on here like a week ago . Someone had similar issues. Same thing happened to me before I knew I had Lyme.

I had a Thermogram about 4 months ago and it showed heat in an area on my right breast. I had actually been having some tenderness there off and on. But, since I switched out of underwire bras to tanks and am now doing upward massage, it is gone. I'm currently being treated for Babs. The Nurse said it could have been an infection...... I'm guessing Lyme is possible. Hope this helps

We are finding a number of breast issues in women with Lyme and co-infections. It seems more so than in the normal populations.

MOST have been lumps that were "ok"... which is the really good news.

Also, caffeine intake is sometimes linked to breast lumps. I was told that years ago, stopped caffeine and the lumps went away.

So relax and enjoy your weekend!

I get a mammogram call-back every year. Mass in my right breast. I know many, many Lyme patients with fibrocystic breasts, so I don't get too worked up about it.

Low iodine levels can cause masses, FYI. And Dr. K says Lyme patients are iodine deficient. I've added iodine and seaweed to my regular diet.

Let's see if I get a call-back next year!

Hi,
thanks for all the great info. I go Monday morning for the biopsy. Not excited about that. But my doctor said it's better to be safe than sorry....Still a little nervous though.

Yes, I have/had a benign mass on my left breast long before sx or dx. I had a callback too, and the tech said it was just a benign mass.

They did have me go back every 6 months to recheck for a while--it would go completely away and then come back again.

I'm way overdue for my yearly mammogram now, so I should probably get my butt in and get it done since we finally have insurance.

At this point, it feels like the mass is back.
